There is some evidence that 4-Fa is neurotoxic (via similar mechanism to 4-CA) though 4-FA has not been shown to cause the serotonin damage seen in 4-CA/IA (in rats only.) Until studies confirming whether this substance is neurotoxic, and more importantly, at what dose (4-CA is used to selectively kill neurons but at very high doses), let's talk anecdotes.
Has anyone taken 4-Fa on a regular basis for a long period (2 weeks+)? I initially took 150mg/day. After 2 weeks I was using 150mg 2-3x a day. Tolerance builds up very quickly. The first side effect I noticed was that I was extremely depressed and demotivated on days I didn't use it.
The 4-Fa induced depression also lasts a long time making it hard to stop using. This depression lifts about 30-40 mins into dosing. I have been tapering off and currently use about 80mg/day. Some days I don't take it, some days I redose once, and I always take L-Citrulline and L-Arginine as vasodilators to help with the vasoconstriction (which isn't that bad on 4-Fa.) I also maximum daily doses of fat/water soluble antioxidants, omega-3 and a multivitamin.
I also noticed the development of tremors (hands constantly tremble) much like that caused by MDPV but much less noticeable and only developing after a few weeks of usage. Abstaining for a few days doesn't relieve the tremors very much. It's not very noticeable unless I'm binging and staying up all night.
Can it be that 4-Fa lasts in the body such a long time that it takes weeks to bring your tolerance back down and hopefully reverse any adverse effects?
It's surprising how little information exists on the chronic use / high dose use of this RC considering how old it is and how high the abuse potential is. From experience, I know this drug has spread far and is being widely used and abused in the RC scene and now bleeding into other demographics.
I consider 4-FA an excellent stimulant due to the very long duration and lack of any intolerable side effects (4-CA was also very well tolerated when tested in humans as an anti-depressant.) Appetite and sleep are not affected too much and the drug doesn't make you a chatterbox (m1.) 4Fa feels very clean and almost benign. However, tolerance builds very fast and the initial empathogenic euphoria/roll is lost early on. I actually had no issues with the drug until I began ramping up the dosage and losing more and more sleep (out of choice, not due to insomnia.)
I cannot give an estimated safe dose but I personally tried to stay below 300mg/day/total. Staying at/below 100mg/day is probably best to mitigate neurotoxicity risk and dependence.
