GALESBURG – A 12-year-old Lombard Middle School boy was arrested Monday at school for attempting to sell crushed aspirin.

According to police reports, the boy told other students he snorted the crushed aspirin up his nose. An assistant principal at the school gave police a baggie of white powder and two aspirin pills she confiscated from the boy. It field tested negative for cocaine.

While being interviewed by police, the boy was laughing and said he thought it was a joke. The boy was arrested for possession of a look-alike substance and released to the custody of his parents. He was referred to teen court.

he wasn't even trying to pass it off as coke and is still getting treated like he did! he actually told the other kids it was aspirin. i don't understand how he could still get charged?

Ridiculous. The kid is 12 years old. The principal should have talked to the kid and the parents. Then the parents should have talked to the kid. Why the fuck would police get involved in something like this.

Good way to get your ass beat. By the kid you sold it to or your parents after they arrest you.

It's simple. The cops are morons.

true, but in this case I'd say the real moron is the principal who (presumably) called the cops on a 12-year-old student who was play doing drugs. it's basically the same thing as when kids "smoke" on a cold day, claiming their thick white breath is smoke.

why wouldn't they. Its the cops. THey get off on this kinda stuff!

That's ridiculous, he should not have even been punished. Just take the fucking aspirin away from the kid and throw it in the trash can, what kind of moron would feel they need to default to uniformed authority in a situation like that?

Thats pretty ridiculous, it would be one thing if he said it was coke or something but he told them it was asprin. When did snorting legal substances become illegal?

This school principal needs to grow the fuck up. I am surprised the pigs even turned up, I would of thought if the princial explained what had happened properly the cops would tell them to handle the punishment inside the school, as it isn't a legal issue. I don't even really see grounds for the school to punish him as I doubt it is explicitly against school policy to snort random powders.

Possession of a look a like? lol This is soo thrown out, the kid never tried to present it as anything illegal. How much longer until the first kid gets arrested for snorting a pixie stick?! EVERY school had at least ONE kid who snorted a pixie stick to make people laugh, are they ALL going to be arrested from now on????

Start suing for damages now kid, no court with a brain in its head will set a precedent like this.

Two quick comments.
1. most schools in america have a school resource officer who is at the school during hours just for situations like this, Thus there is a good chance the principal had no discretion in involving the police because the police where already on campus.
2. The kid is probably screwed because juveniles are not protected unnder the constitution the same way adults are, he has no right to a jury trial and other such things we take for granted as adults.

Are you sure about that? I'm not doubting you, I'm just wondering... I've also heard that students don't have their rights from other people, but I think I read a while ago at flexyourrights.org that they do actually have the same rights, but I dont really remember..
Anybody clarify this? I'm still a student and I'd like to know

this really is ridiculous, how far are they gonna go with their stupid ass no-drugs policy:X
