I too think about this all the time. I have just a bundle of real friends (maybe 6 or 7) now, and the rest are drug friends or drug connections who pretend to be friends to make theirs. I think it comes down to wether you would be associating with them if drugs were completely out of the picture. There was a time when that number was maybe 2 or 3 due to a bad addiction and the fact that I was just happier when fucked up, and had the means to stay that way. I generally didn't associate much with most "friends" who didn't use during that time unless something was really bad wrong with me and I was seeking advice/help/etc.., which made me realize where "the line" was. I started asking myself if I was going to continue with drugs at this pace for the rest of my life. The answer was NO, so I laid off and worked on my social life a little. I'd have many more real friends now if I hadn't gone through that stage, but the past is the past.

Real friends will be there when the drugs have gone dry... who needs friends that rely on a substance to keep the connection between you strong? That connection should be based on friendship/trust/loyalty/etc... not weed/coke/etc.

At what point does a spliff become a spliff?

I was having a discussion with a friend who does not like people smoking cigarettes inside his house. But strangely, he didnt mind it if spliffs were smoked indoors, or any other smokable substance ie the crack pipe.

Another guy in the room nodded then started rolling his spliff but put a fair whack of tobacco in it.

I hardly use pot but when I do I cant stand it rolled with tobacco. Neither could the home owner who chucked the other guy out to smoke as what he was making "was no longer a spliff".

I hate tobacco smoke and bong smelll and stale spliff smoke in my house so disallow smoking inside.. All gross to me. But I am stumped as to wy this guy's mix was no longer cosidered a spliff as it had a chunk of tobacco in it.

So does one dried up strand of pot stuffed into a cigarette make it a spliff?

Interested to know as I dont have much to do with pot at all and never have, but some of my friends seem to have some love of the stuff. I just don't get it.

If theres pot in it Id call it a spliff, but youd be obliged to say there was measly amounts pot in the spliff, if that was the case.

This isnt allowed happen

I consider a spliff to be a joint of any size that is fat on one end and tapers down to a thinner size on the opposite end.

Fat end is usually the burning end.

^^ive always called those cones, which they make 'shells' of which you can pack. ill try to find a pic.

a spliff to me has always been a tobacco and weed joint. never thought about how much weed you gotta put in it though to consider it a spliff and not a handrolled cigarette.

edit to cloudy...

I still find it a remarkable cultural difference that most people outside the USA roll tobacco with their herb  :)

The definitions that I've always heard from people here in northern europe were:

Spliff - Joint rolled with tobacco.
Joint - Either any kind of cannabis cigarette or one just containing marijuana.

Of course, in my travels I have met people who referred to any kind of pipe that filters the smoke through water as a bong...

a spliff is a rolly with either just weed, or weed and tobbacco. a joint is a spliff made with 2 or more skins.

NO smoking in DC, GTFO!!

Unless it's in the VIP area in which case anything goes...

as far as I'm concerned a spliff must have baccy in it in order to smoke properly, otherwise you can't enjoy kicking back with it, you gotta puff like fuck to keep it going...

Tobacco helps the weed burn better and smoother, and you'll get "more high" from the same amount as if you weren't spinning it.

A good rule of thumb is 60/40, in favour of weed. Any more than that -particularly if that ratio swings in favour of tobacco- and its a cigarette laced with weed.
