just so I fully understand

you're saying you once logged into bluelight on your android which then given it has google login enabled it remembered your location.

now when you login via your PC it remembers the location of your android login.

Are you logged into google on your PC? even if you're not sharing location on your PC that might explain what's going on. If you are try logging out of google and/or running in a private browsing session and then try clicking on your location again, hopefully that doesn't show your old location then. I'm guessing this is more a google account thing, easy to rule it out if it is!

For Google to know your location from BL the forum would actively have to be sending API data directly to google - Quick AI search below suggests that this isn't a standard thing for XenPorta to be able to do.

What XenPorta 2 PRO​

XenPorta 2 PRO is a portal/article front‑end add‑on for XenForo. Its functionality is limited to:

  • Promoting threads into articles
  • Displaying sliders, widgets, and layouts
  • Integrating with XenForo’s widget system
  • Rendering content on the front page
None of the official feature lists mention analytics, geolocation, or external data transmission.


When​

While XenPorta itself does not send location data, your XenForo installation might, depending on what you embed:

  • Google Analytics
  • Google AdSense / Ad Manager
  • Google Fonts
  • YouTube embeds
  • Any Google widget or script you add to XenPorta blocks
If you place Google scripts inside XenPorta widgets or templates, then Google may collect IP‑based location data, just as it would anywhere else on your site. This is not XenPorta’s doing — it’s the Google script.


Practical takeaway​

If you have no Google scripts in your XenForo templates, widgets, or theme, then XenPorta 2 PRO will not send location data to Google.

If you do embed Google services, then Google may infer user location from IP addresses — but that’s Google’s normal behavior, not a XenPorta feature.

Yeah, the location is about where the conjunction is for the public transport point. That smart phone Android 24/ 7 logged in.

It was a risk to login on the site via Android. Didnt think it would lead up to this. If you got something to hide or respect privacy i d advise. Do not !

Always logged out, and use in private. Still went to that busstop location when on my PC

Obviously it does on a Android. Maybe good that i did that recklessly kinda shows whats happening. And it backtracks you somehow. I do get that its geographic. Ganja_cat_delta is looked up in your supposed area. Why Cheshire s 'Edge City' was displayed as Amsterdam area. Seeks locally.

That official statement Xenporta vs reality makes it even more troubling. Thanks .

exactly.

as i've said, twice now, when you click the location link under a user all we do is send that text - in emkee's case "ganja_cat_delta" - as a search term to google maps.

dunno what your setup is like, I'm pretty knowledgeable about these things and have a very tight set up (lots of privacy extensions, well configured browser, VPN, decent OS), and I still make plenty of fuck ups that cause leaks, drugs and fuck ups are best friends, it might only have taken 1 little mistake, couple that with a fist full of kpins and there's no way I'd even remember!

Well IMHO I doubt BL admin are complicit in providing the info, and if a 3LA wanted it there's easier ways to achieve it without giving away that they have it.

might just be that occam's razor maybe applies? worth checking your set up regardless, because this might just be a sign that you're not as secure in other areas as you might think.
 
From the Pc the location ZYN when clicked redirected to something on the Phillipines. No idea why Cheshire came up as area in Amsterdam edge city. So safe to say Googles not watching over my shoulder when going on internet. Nr. 1, 2 and 3 are good.

4 sufficient Ubuntu switch to a BSD asap. Seems in order and a new smartphone

if anybody is worried about bl sending private data, they can reassure themselves by installing a traffic monitor and explicitly checking the request.

i just downloaded and installed fiddler classic. when i click on the location in my signature, here is the request:

it is literally just sending the text "south lake tahoe, ca" to google as a search term.

that's it. that's all.

Hi alert.

This is another one of the scariest things I have ever seen in my life

as well as, well kind of intriguing ! Lol. Just don't com on my porch.

Tahoe looked cool. I have never been there. I was mostly on the coast. My

relatives from Sacramento used to go to Tahoe and Reno was

their favorite place. You couldn't keep them away. I don't know why someone

would want to sniff out someone's location however. Like when they could just

ask them the address instead. As in where's your house ali. Can you see the lake

Yes, intriguing and scary. Great synergy and zooming into. I like looking inside apartments where

people used to live. To see the layout. But that's only if you have the exact address location and the

place is on the market as a rental. It's amazing what people will dig up. All and all don't put your

address out there on the internet. It's a deterrent but they will still try to dig it up somehow believe

me. It's kind of sad. Why would someone want to infringe on my daily life and my daily routine. I mean

I haven't been throwing any wild parties or any other kind of wild things. I am trying to survive in the pain and

agony of the suffering in my life that I do so with because I am just here trying to do what I can. There is

no party on my porch here. Or anyone else that's going to get something that you are not. We just live

here. I don't get it. Why obsess over someone because of a map. Or any other reason. Oh wait I think

that was that other thread that I was just in. But yes there are some really funky maps all over the place

It gets quite unsettling at times. I'm quiet. Jesus I'm not for sale nor my land. Thank you. It does make

you wonder. This locator was a real Hoot. It's zeroing in on my Zyn of course. Be Safe. Hahaha. I know

I want to be. Haha.

Yes that map of Tahoe is Huge !!! :cool: I mean you live there ... so what. Except that

it is one of the most awesome places on the Planet. However still not secluded enough for

me. I'm good with my location. Hopefully others can be too. I hope everyone can live in

a place that can make them so happy !

But I am sure there are those out there that do. I wish I had that kind of time. I actually enjoy

each second that I have. The location maps are kind of funny. But they are going to look

Okay, this is what I think that it has to be !!!! :unsure:

It's just a location link for finding things. Not necessarily us specifically.

Just a general link to a map and directions to somewhere and NOT any kind

of specific location. A map for directions. Like gps does in your car for

driving. It's called technology. Oh of course it is going to pick up your own location because that is

how it links and just what it does now. It's technology we have now. We are all at risk. But over all we are all safe

at the same time. Hopefully, and I am going with the feeling that we are.

I have my own private surveillance. It's called security I guess. Lol.

I'm pretty sure it is quite secure though. Unless someone wants to make that extra effort. Why bother though.

A while back @Cheshire_Kat an me crossed paths In the spin off of bible verses. I dont even remember that happening. Then reading back the event you were so very very patient with me

Excuses might it come across as offending. Not meant. Edge city directed to Amsterdam. Seems less surprising reading the merry prankster background story. They would fit in there. Still a weird redirecting. Like ZYN ends me in Philippine and mine in a place ~25 km away.

Gonna check what happens if i type ZYN in Google maps. Without Bluelight. There is a ZYN closer by. With Ganja_cat_Delta i get doesnt exist.
