local cuisine!

Western Washington state is the home of dungenus crab, cedar or alder wood smoked salmon(which i dont like but is some of the best), fine/gourmet muscles, and scallops are also exported from here, NW clam chowder will rival anywhere else.

We have a large Asian population here, and there are lots of Bulgarein and Russian restaurants.Iam from Texas and have lots of Mexican food, surprisingly though the best I have had has been here.

It depends on the person...

But I would take someone into Baltimore, feed them breakfast at the Admiral Fell Inn. Then we would cruise the local record/thrift stores to kill some time. Since drugs can be purchased five blocks from Fell's Point that would be a possibility.

Then we would either get pizza from this one place also on fell's point or eat lunch at the rusty scupper since it is right by the visionary arts museum. After lunch we would go there and check out all the art. Then we would have some drinks and look out that window at that perfect harbor view...

Then I don't know. Check out a show playing that night, there is usually some decent bands on the weekends. There are a bunch of clubs that I have never been to but lots of people seem to swear by them. I guess dinner would depend on what was eaten for lunch. Someone visiting Maryland would probably expect to eat some kind of crab, and really there are so many damn places here for that I wouldn't even know where to start.

But if someone wanted to go the more tourist-y route I guess I would take them to Fort McHenry or just go to DC instead. The mall district in DC can be very beautiful in the spring, there are cherry blossoms and green lawns and pristine gardens... plus there are about a hundred different monuments and memorials, not to mention the smithsonian museums, the national art gallery, etc.

like I say it depends on the person.

In Chico we don't have specialty foods. I would say you could drive south to SF and eat bitchin' Veitnamese food, but thats fucking forever and a day away. Mostly, we drink. We drink a lot. We drink beer. We drink mixed drinks. We take shots. We consume copious amounts of booze on a day to day basis. I wanted to find a Chico Drinking Team logo, but the only one I could find sucked. Anyways, I would take you to a bar and get you so drunk that you'd be unable to walk home. Thats what I would do.

So. Without further adeu (adooo?) Here is a picture of beer spilled on a road.

Good lord, what is that? It does not look appetizing at all. It has to be better than it looks.

Cajun food looks gross but = tasty?

It is totally better than it looks. It's spinach and mushroom etouffee (sp?).

I will admit, my better half spent two years trying to get me to try it. Admittedly, the look of it did put me off for a while, but it has since become one of my favorite comfort foods. Plus, that plate is about $5 with a drink. Can't beat it.

It's basically a spicy "gravy" with stuff on a bed of rice.

A little about etouffee.

Oh man that sounds so tasty. Sorry for doubting you. Now I just have to find someone who will make it.

Is the pronunciation like eh-two-fee? I'm not great with French.

It's cool. I doubted the bf for two years. :)

It's aye-two-fay, but that could be my bc of my weird midwestern accent. ;)

Would that be "aye" Aye aye captian? Or "aye" like aye baby?

Neptune's Net, just north of LA on the Pacific Coast Highway.

I love the concept -- any fish you want, fried in a basket with fries. And it's the best fried fish I've ever had. They also have those clam chowder bread bowls. And it sits right across from the beach on the Pacific Coast Highway. You can't go wrong -- it's my ultimate comfort food.

Oh damn. Thats pretty close to me (I don't live in Malibu, but as close as you can live without living in Malibu). I've only eaten there once, got a chiliburger, and it was the worst thing I've ever eaten. Maybe it was an off day; I'll give them another try. The 100+ Harleys parked out front at any given time does give it a pretty cool atmosphere too.

I would take people down to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles! Yeah baby!

If someone were visiting seattle, i'd have them sample:

-Local Beers (we have tons of breweries up here)
-Pho (vietnamese soup, which is the big thing around here now)
-Thai food
-Sushi (tons of good cheap sushi)
-Sea food (Ivar's clam chowder, smoked salmon, etc)
-Local coffeeshops (fuck starbucks!)

Wait wait whoa back up... theres a place that serves fried chicken and waffles on the SAME plate? Oh man... How do I miss things like this?!

I think that may be the problem... If I could I would IV Bluelight.
