Lithium question?

Okay hello everyone I haven't been logged in for quite some time I hope everyone has been doing good:-)
My question is if I had issues with my kidney when I took lithium back when I was a teenager, (Not sure what kind of issues). Is there a chance that I can take lithium now that I'm 22 years old? I had to go off it when I was a teen.

That's one drawback with lithium is having to get your blood levels monitored. It's generally well tolerated except it can cause kidney problems from long term usage and other medical conditions or medications. You need to weigh your options with your doctor to ensure you won't have this issue again. There are also other medications they can prescribe if lithium turns out to be too much of a risk. Hope you find some relief! :)

I'm not sure, guess it depends if your doctor feels your kidneys are healthy enough. Then still, blood levels have to be checked. I was going to suggest Depakote but that carries the same risks. See what he says, don't worry though because there are other meds you can try.
