lithium + dxm??

basically, is it somewhat safe to combine? worst case scencario, possible od?
just curious, i have tripped off dxm many times before, that im passed taking more than i should to get FUCKED up, i just take enough now to feel the long lasting buzz, any ideas to let me know, please tell me
 
yes i do...along with klonopin and other scripts, but klonopin is the only "addicting" drug i take

While this source shows no interaction between DXM and lithium, that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. The name of the game changes when you increase the dosages of DXM to recreational levels.

My roommate once took his lithium and went and drank heavily, he dissociated and went into a seizure. Not good, please tread carefully. It's probably best to just not take that combination.
 
Lithium is excellent in controlling mania. I was prescribed for Manic Bi-Polor [The not so bad one, I forget the levels] and given 300MG Lithium 3 times a day with klonopin, twice a day... and boy does this stuff [Lithium] keep every dopamine and serotonin agonist from working. My adderall lost it's euphoria, even with tolerance breaks... I took a 2 month break and took 60MG [a double dose - A bit high, for anyone] and the only thing it did was make me feel like I had drank a pot of coffee... I couldn't believe it! NO Euphoria, whatsoever... I downed 300MG DXM and just ended up feeling a bit funny with a headache. There's so little information on people on Lithium doing DXM, I just felt my post valuable. Thanks for listening!

Well Lithium can lower the seizure threshold and so can DXM so that's a reason not to take it there. I know taking a psychedelic such as shrooms or LSD is a big no no on Lithium as it can cause seizures and tends to make psychs stronger in a bad way. I don't know if there is a direct interaction with recreational doses of DXM and Lithium but i wouldn't chance it. Lithium can interact with alot of medications in a bad way.

He experienced the same as me, a headache and paranoia that we might be beginning Serotonin Syndrome.

Thanks for the good advice, paranoid android. I wasn't actually aware of Lithium lowering the seizure threshold and that's good to know.

However, I have an unusually high seizure threshold so, for today at least, I will be the guinea-pig. I've just dosed 600MG DXM about an hour ago, in the form of gel-caps, and have decided to skip my 3rd and final dose of Lithium, of the day, despite it staying in your system like an SSRI, I know. I just got paranoid and didn't take it.

Trip-Report Begin: Today, I've taken 300mg Lithium at 10AM and 300mg Lithium at 5PM and a Klonapin at 5PM.

Dose: 500MG - DXM

+1:00 I have an obvious fever and headache, so I took some aspirin and might go take a cold shower in a bit.
Drinking a full glass of water has my stomach killing me and I think I'm about to have some serious... err... Diarrhea.

+1:15 Oh Dear God... I think I'm going to spend the rest of the night in the bathroom. Headache is mostly gone. I think the water actually got rid of the headache, instead of the aspirin.

+1:30 I have no idea why the onset came on so fast, normally it takes like 2 hours for DXM to hit me. I did take a K-pin earlier in the day for my nerves. I am so incredibly dizzy right now, but no euphoria, no CEVs, but it's "bright" when I close my eyes in a normally lit room at 9:20PM [EST].

Time is messed up. My girlfriend just told me that it's been two and a half hours since I dosed.

This is not enjoyable, forgetting all the gastrointestinal issues, the buzz is like a horrible alcohol variant with no stimulating effects or mood upping. I'm just dizzy as heck...

I'll finish this post, while I can and come back and edit later.

Current Conclusion: Lithium prevents all of the desirable effects of DXM, somehow. I'm just sitting here, fumbling around, feeling pretty retarded...

I'm sorry for the absolute lack of useful information.... Other than: Don't combine Lithium and DXM. Lithium breaks DXM.

Hope it pans out alright for ya mate ^^^ not a horrible post at all though; quite the opposite.
 
I've done DXM 30+ times, and I can tell you... Mixing it with Lithium is a painful experience.

Lithium takes away the magic of DXM. If you ever want to know what DXM is like, without the stimulating effects, euphoria, and/or ego-death, then hit it. Otherwise, all you're going to get is something like alcohol intoxication, again, without the dopamine rush, and a migraine that'll make you think you're getting seratonin syndrome.

I'm a veteran DXM tripper, but after having tried my best to get something off DXM while on Lithium, twice, I'll never try it again.

The first time was confusing and the second time was miserable...
