Liquid Tramadol

My partner brought home 3ml of liquid tramadol from the vet where he works. I was curious if there was any method of administration other than IV. Can it be crystalised for snorting or merely swalled as is?
 
first off you need to find out the mg/ml ratio so you can figure out a dose to take.
once you find that out, i would take 150mg for a first timer and then 50mg more an hour later if needed.. don't exceed 400mg in 24 hrs due to seizure risk.
 
i was just gonna say that, but i figured since they wanted to talk about cooking it up to crystalize it that it would still be OD worthy since it wasn't only about how much to take.. but you're the mod.. im just someone who sits here and reads every thread cuz i have no life ATM.
 
Beware of seizures and shallow breathing. Like a previous poster said find out the dosing ratio. I have a HORRID reaction to tramadol where just 50mg will leave me barely able to breathe.... I have a tolerance and everything.. but tramadol does not do well with me. So just be careful. Some people love the shit some hate it.. I am the latter. Are you on anti depressants? If so be aware that tramadol is a pain reliever and an anti depressant as well. Don't let your seratonin levels get fucked up. Be careful and have fun.

Is it actually possible to crystalise it? Is it effective to consume orally at a dose of 1.5ml?

what you need to realize is 1.5ml is a measurement and not a dosage.. so you need to figure out how many mg of tramadol are in each ml of fluid. then you will know how many ml to take to get to the desired amount.
 
I've never heard of anyone snorting tramadol so the intranasal BA could be extremely low for all I know so it might not even be worth it and would probably be a lengthy process. I don't know why you'd want to do that for a guess when its effective orally at the doses people mentioned above.

I can't stress enough what others have said - find out the concentration and be careful when dosing. Too much tramadol can easily produce seizures.
 
Hi all, my cat was recently prescribed to several vials containing .36 mls of liquid tramadol in each one. He used all of them but one which he does not need, I was wondering if this would be safe to IV or even to consume orally.

We'll need to know the mass of tramadol or the concentration for dosing, however if it was for a cat it is likely low enough to be safe for you. If it is meant to be administered by IV and has no other cat based active ingredients, according to wikipedia tramadol can be administered by injection. If it is meant to be administered orally then there could be inactive adulterants which would make it not suitable for injection.

i was trying to do this differently, but all the sudden it does not matter anyway.

as amapola mentioned, you should not IV an oral preparation.

Likely not as it was an oral solution for you cat so might not be isotonic, sterilized, or free of adulterants. Furthermore as such a tiny amount of tramadol will have literally no effect on you, even if it were safe to IV (which we can't know) the normal injection risks are simply not worth it.
