Pardon me I am a newbie. Well not a 'newbie' per se I have been on 6 Oxycontin 80's a day for almost 10 years and an IR for break thru pain. Obviously, as my tolerance has increased, my doctor has me on a liquid Fentanyl sublingual formulation called Subsys. 1600 mcg every 4 hours for break thru medication. The NDC # is 20482-008-01 (800 mcg x 2) every 4 hours for those of you trying to figure it out. I know Fentanyl is very strong from being on the 150 mcg patches several years back, but does anyone know anything about this Subsys (made by a company called Insys) It does help with the pain, I am just concerned because it is so strong! I do have a high tolerance though. Are people abusing this med? How else would you take it? I don't shoot things, and it does have an alcohol additive. Is there a more effective way to take this med vs under the tongue for maximum pain relief etc...? I mean for something that sounds so strong, I thought I would be getting better pain relief and it would last longer! It claims to last for 240 mins, but it lasts nowhere near that. Any suggestion/thoughts?? Again - I'm new to the board so please don't berate me for asking. HELP
