Ok guys, I just got into an argument with my friend about if liquid opium exists. He says he has some, I've personally never seen it before. Is it around?

Paregoric and laudanum (no longer available) are the fimilar names.. they are opium tinctures, close as you get to "liquid opium" .. not common, not going to see it on the street...

Yeah, paregoric is a tincture of opium and alcohol. It's used in treating chronic diareah. But don't expect to walk into a doctor's office or emergency room and walk out with a script for this. They'll typically prescribe heavy-duty Immodium AD or, if you tell them that the over-the-counter version doesn't work, they'll give you diphenoxylate, e.g. Lomotil, Lonox, etc. It's also an opiate, but it's not like the morphine in paregoric. Still, if you take about 7-10 mg. you can get a mild opiate high off of it. But, be careful, because they put a small amount of Atropine in the pill to prevent it from being abused. Sure, taking 7-10 mg of Lomotil isn't going to measure enough Atropine to cause any problems, but if you tried taking 40 mg like you would with an oxycott, you're fucked.

I would almost bet money that it's lettuce opium he ordered online. Often it comes in a liquid form in a dropper bottle, hence liquid.
It really won't get you high, but it might make good incense.

This post reminds us of the definition of 'opium' itself.
Be wary of anything with the word 'opium' attached to it (liquid, white rock, red rock, dragon's blood etc...) if the substance is not darkish brown/black, sticky and malleable. In other words, if someone has real opium, load up your pipe and take one or two hits. If you're not feeling it within 3-5 minutes it's not real. Simple as that.
As someone mentioned earlier, your fake o makes a killer incense though!
As PhreeX said, the tincture of opium (laudanum) is no longer prescribed...however, with a little luck, it is quite possible that your friend produced his own formula. You can make it with a decent quantity of opium and grain alcohol (or something of a high alc. volume).
Happy painkilling.
