Liquid Lortab question

This may seem like a dumb question, but I was actually wondering for real. Does anyone know if you can geta buzz from liquid lortab for dogs like you would regular liquid hydrocodone for people? Because I found a bottle of some for an old pet of ours who had some prescribed to him by the vet (we had to give him away because he was too aggressive). Or is the potency of what dogs get way less than what people would get?

Not a prank question or anything, I was just wondering if anyone knew how it converts or whatever.

Look at the bottle. What is the mg per teaspoon serving? Find that out. The potency is much likely to be less than a bottle of liquid hydrocodone intended for human use.

Some of the paper on the bottle got ripped off, it's kinda old (like 4 months prolly). I just remember it was milliliters I think. I have no idea how that converts to mg's though & if liquid lortab for dogs would be less as potent since they're dogs obviously.

I had the idea of taking some and seeing what it would do. I don't know if that's just plain dumb or what though. So I asked to see if anyone knew anything, but there'd probably need to be a vet on here now that I think about it, lol.

I'd personally test the potency, but only because I have a high tolerance to opiates/pain-killers and it takes A LOT hydrocodone to get me high. Now, I couldn't even get high off any opiates considering the fact that I'm on Suboxone maintenance.

Last time I tried to catch a high off Vicodin, I was reasonably concerned with the mass amount of APAP and didn't even get somewhat high; only mild relaxation and relief of withdrawal. I was disappointed at the fact I wasted those 5mg Vicodin, when I could've sold them and bought my personal drug of choice at that time... heroin.

My tolerance isn't what yours sounds like at all, but I have a fair tolerance. Takes about 25-30 mg of hydro to get a decent high for me.

I figured why not try this bottle of dog hydro though since we don't even have the dog anymore, lol. I just drank like 1/5 of the bottle and can actually feel something so far I think. Definitely a slight hydro feel to it, but it's not nearly as strong as human liquid hydro is. It feels like I just took about a 2.5mg hydro. Not that great at all.

Can you tell the brand name or anything from the packaging? If so use google and search mg per ml hydrocodone *insert brand name/product name here*.

Yes you can get high, but i'd recommend figuring out what the dosage is first. DOnt want an accidental OD.

True. I did try to convert it, but apparently you can't really convert ml's to mg's they're in 2 totally different unit / measurement categories. It's weird. This stuff is definitely weak though. Not worth even doing really. You can feel that it's definitely real liquid hydrocodone, but it's really weak. Either it's because dogs can't handle nearly as much (probably that) or it's just out-dated.

The preparation will somewhere on it state Hydrocodone *mg/*ml. Where the stars can be replaced by the values.

Obviously a random preparation you wont be able to figure out how many mgs is in it unless using a GC/MS test. However as you have a pharmaceutical preparation, by law, they have to state how many mgs per mls in the bottle.

it actually does say 5ml/5mg on there. I really don't believe that though. Because like 2 drops would be 2 mgs according to this thing (it says give 2 drops when needed). I just chugged what would be a bunch of little drops. So if the 5ml-5mg was right, I'd be high as a kite, but I barely feel a buzz (Definitely feel a slight hydro feeling though so I know it's really the stuff).

Anyway, I was just curious how it converted out and stuff. The only way I figured to find out was to try a little bit, lol.

Just cleaned up your double post and such.

If the bottle states 5mg per 5ml then that means there is 1mg of hydrocodone in every ml of the solution.

If you disbelieve this get yourself an oral syringe and measure out exactly how many mgs would be a good dose for you compared to when taking other preps. I.E. If you need 30mg as you said, you will need 30ml of the liquid.

The only way it could be weaker is if it is really old and has degraded; has been stored improperly in the sun etc and has degraded or if someone has diluted it in the past.

Yeah, I think it may really be 5ml/5mg like it says. I just think it's out-dated or something. It may be 6 months old or so now that I think about it. It has been stored @ room temp with no direct sunlight though. Hmm, beats me. I just know for whatever reason it's nothing like regular liquid lortab (for people) that I've had once before. That's weird.

Hmm there's no reason why it shouldn't feel like Lortab, they both contain hydrocodone? Lortab, Vicodin, and Norco all contain hydro + varying amounts of APAP.

At 1mg/ml, you have to see how many ml you actually have, and how many ml you are actually taking to get an idea of what you are taking. If you dont have a measuring device, then figure out what the capacity of the bottle its in and the you can make a judgement based on how much the bottle contains.
I just dont think that the age of the medication is the problem here, I suspect it is your dose, as you don't seem to have a grasp of how much hydrocodone you are ingesting.

I think you just did not take enough hydrocodone. The first time I got high of hydro in my teens was with 25mg and it was wonderful. I would take 10mg from a bone injury and not feel anything. Even up to 15mg. This was with my first prescriptions ever and I never felt an opiate high.

Six months at standard temperature and pressure in its (closed) container shouldn't be long enough to allow decomposition to that extent, says I in agreement with nsauce. Also, if you're hesitant to track down a proper measuring utensil, recall 1 teaspoon = ~5 mL.

Is a teaspoon the larger one or the smaller spoon? I never can remember that shit ... . I'm thinking a tablespoon is bigger and a teaspoon is smaller?

Teaspoon is the smallest spoon. Not all teaspoons are bang on 5ml though (or even close) so I'd get something more accurate, oral syringes are usually available from most pharmacies.

I used to work as a pharm tech and we filled Tramadol all the time for dogs. Never heard of Lortab being prescribed though. Your dog was probably aggressive 'cause you stopped dosing him his meds!

Lmao.
That's true. I had a human steal my hydrocodone one time.
If he comes around again, I might just have to bite his ass.

I wouldn't actually bite his "ass"...I'm thinking more like upper torso or lower shoulder area.
