Hiya all,
just want a bit of insight please, my wife has motory neurone disease and after failing with previous drugs ( We have a shit load of Nabilone and Sativex to return to the chemist),
the local Hospital are advocating Liquid Ketamine at 5 mg as and when needed.
My drug of choice is alcohol and I am quite happy with that as I know I have an addictive personality.
The problem is with never having used drugs I don't know what to tell her when she is being a butterfly with the cat or in nets for Brazil. When she is "off it " do I go with the flow , reassure her or just let her get on with the "trip".
On the plus side the pain has been blocked now and she is getting sleep again.

Thanks for any insight.

Go with the flow, even if she gets a bit paranoid play along - should be short lasting and easier for her to cope:). Yeah if she starts to get a bit scared then reassure her that she will be ok just her body getting used to a new drug etc.

Glad that its working for her pain :)

Welcome to the site

Thanks dude, its medication time now so I will go and enjoy the fun.
Thanks for the info.

I've never tried ketamine, to me it sounds a bit scary for some reason lol

Though I know it comes in 10ml vials and crystals, I think it was cut with a gram of coke we had 1 night cos the guy who sold us it was trying to push us Ketamine, and after 1 line I felt dizzy and was sick

Shady stuff 8( ...

Ketamine can be seen as a bit dodgy and it's psychotropic effects are odd(personal experience), however it is amazing for pain relief in certain circumstances having seen it perform efficaciously in hospital settings... It's oft touted as 'horse tranquilizers' but it can be really handy in pretty tough medical conditions like kids with trauma where it acts quickly on pain and dosen't have hallucinatory side effects nearly as much, drugs are amazing strange tools.

mikkir you mention your wife's pain is blocked, is it pain from muscle cramping? or are there other symptoms the ketamine is recommended for? the mnda recommend tizanidine which has studies backing it for muscle cramps in mnda, though that might not be useful if its other sorts of pain or additional symptoms your wife has, to answer your question go with the flow, providing touch and positive reassuring comments would probably be a good approach imho

Thanks for the response, my wife has peripheral pain and cramps from her elbows to her finger tips and also from her knees to toes. This is caused by CMT which is a neuropathy, ie there is no real pain but the brain thinks there is due to random mylin sheathing on her nerve endings.
The Ket apparently targets the part of the brain that tell her that she is in pain. She uses this with Butrans patches and pregabalin .(nabilone and sativex had no effect)
Only since the Ketamine has she started sleeping again, after reading more info on this forum I have learned that when she is in a purple straw for 30 mins she is actually in a K-Hole and I don't worry as much when she is "off her head".
Many thanks all.
