Limitless - greatest drug film of all time

i think a lot of us consider ourselves anti fashion, myself included. "Im above being a fashion victim" . Forever seeking to assert our individuality or something, whilst at the same time also desperately needing to belong somewhere. I left the community i belonged to, where i grew up, i dont think I'll ever get back that sense of belonging.

I think you're picking at tiny bits of it tho knock - he took drugs, did well and became successful. That's a message at odds with drugstore cowboy/requiem or any other drug film where you take drugs and inevitably die face down in a steaming pile of catshit (a la trainspotting).

I'm not, I'm picking at your defense of the film as somehow subversive by infiltrating the establishment with drugs. The establishment is already infiltrated by drugs. Just not those kind of drugs :) And NZT-70 or whatever it is not my kind of drug, if it just causes rampant egomania.

C'mon issy, that's just surface level bullshit and you know it.

Forget thinking about Ofcom when you're watching this and think in terms of humanity and it's motivations/capabilities/needs ...

This isn't a flick about authority and drugs. try not seeing it through those eyes. I understand that's one of your key preoccupations and I respect that (it's a valid concern) but this flick isn't really relevant to that imo.

[edit]
and the BBFC let Videodrome and my beloved Cronenberg through their net, they (boards of classification/authority) ain't all that bad in truth.

You're barking up the wrong tree (or being overly preoccuppied in the wrong places) when looking at what the film says imo.

Positive films about drugs are quite rare tho knock - what other film has a positive outcome for a drug user?

True marma, perhaps I'm grasping there. But I still think it's the only drug film I've ever seen where the poor user didn't end up facedown with the cat doing a whoopsy on him.

Get back on the psilocybin and leave the AL LAD alone imo ... like knock says, it's psychedelic candyfloss

I badly need to get hold of some NZT!

Which drug in real life is close to being like NZT?

i wish i knew. Any good stimulant i suppose. But there was no come down with NZT, things just got better and better.

Piracetam is a contendor, although its effects are nothing like as dramatic as NZT appears in the film, i spose Piracetam could be the start of something, if they continue researching and experimenting along those lines, better drugs, something like NZT could be developed. They both belong to the 'nootropic' family.
