limbo

so i find myself again
balancing on a thin wire
high above the hushed crowd
but i am not a star tonight
they cannot see me

i am just balancing here

on side stage i will wait
peeping out from the wings
dodging deep searching spotlights
overshadowed by colour
in the sea of curtain
i am drowning

it is not yet time for my cue

as the last cheer dies
i am just one of many
gray brown overalls
that will roll up the ring
and roll it back out tomorrow
without much ceremony
at all

i am doing what i can right now

and from the biggest stick
of cotton candy
you ever will see
i shall take just one
small pink sugar crystal
and let it dissolve
slowly
on my tongue
and no more

it is all the pleasure i can manage right now

but even as my sad painted face
dissapears again into the night
i can hear the drums roll
and them shout out my name
and it pushes me on
like a warm wind at my back
