today you asked "have you ever thought about growing old, and what you would look like?",
and i replied that i had--most everyone probably does...and it wasnt until later that i realized that it was so much of something for you to ask this question...
for you to ask this, meant that you believed that you had a future.. that you truly felt you could grow old...that your inner voice was, at least at this moment, able to fight off the other voices that the chemicals couldnt prevent, and allow you to feel as others do.
and you smiled after you asked this, and this something, so ordinary, has made my day worthwhile....

for those of you who dont know, i work with people with various mental disorders. one of the women, diagnosed with schizophrenia, continuously hears voices that tell her she is dying...when the above question was asked, i didnt think too much of it, but later today, realized that something so small could be a sign of improvement for her
