Ligand, voltage-gated sodium, ion, calcium channels etc.?

A little help concerning the channels, where they exist in respect to the synaptic vesicle, how they work.

I have minimal knowledge about voltage-gated and ligand gated channels and whether they deal with sodium, calcium, or other ions.
Exactly how do the gates help synaptic communication? I'm also interested in its negative or positive charges.

Well, sodium has a +1 charge and calcium has a charge of +2. Voltage-gated and ligand-gated channels are obviously different wherein ligand channels respond based on a ligand and voltage-gated channels respond from a charge.
