Librium having intoxicating effects?

Im in day 3 of alcohol detox with 50mg Librium every 6 hours. I was always told/read that Librium was an effective anticonvulsant but basically useless for recreational effects. I dont know if its the lack of booze or its the Librium. But my coordination is somewhat effected in a somewhat pleasnt way. I dont stumble so much as youd see a drunk but rather I "lurch" slightly at times.

Yesterday I forgot I dosed and accidentally dosed twice (only100mg total but no tolerance), talk about a cross between alcohol and somewhat of a disassociative. I was apathetic, a bit lethargic, couldnt walk a straight line for a long distance (not drunk sumbling though). Slept 12 hours even though I usually sleep like sht. Stuff kinda messed me up, and I gotta say I wnjoyed it.

Has anyone had librium experiences they enjoyed? Librium experiences they didnt? Those who couldnt care either way? Also, is taking doses like 100mg going to interfere with my booze detox and affect possible seizures? Thanks all.

Librium is definitely intoxicating at higher doses but that doesn't really make it recreational. Any GABA-A positive allosteric modulator like benzodiazepines will have effects on coordination in higher doses.

I would be careful with it though. You could very easily switch your alcohol addiction for a Librium addiction. It isn't terribly common but it can happen, it is a benzodiazepine after all.

Im at no risk for seizures (from the alcohol detox) if I started taking increased Librium dosages right?

I have quite a bit more Librium than it will take me to finish a 7 day timed detox. However I know the horrors of benzo WD with Xanax and will never let myself back down that one... Once this alcohol detox is complete and this Librium runs out Ill be weed only for the foreseeable future...

If anything higher librium doseages would decrease the chances of you having an alcohol withdrawal seizure.

Id be really careful if I were you though, it sounds like you are playing with fire if you are looking to get intoxicated with meds you are supposed to be detoxing with.

I think chlordiazepoxide can go 12 rounds with any of the benzos if being used for kicks (it is the daddy of benzodiapines after all). Although the equivelent dose is quite large compared to similar drugs its one of the best for reductions due to the availibility of such small dose increments.

But the responsible part of me would reiterate what crampz says. You need to concentrate on doing the detox correctly and if you have a few spare doses at the end then save them for a rainy day

The first time I was in alcohol detox as a teenager they put me on Librium and I slept for 3 days. so relaxed.
