Liberty Caps in Wales Q

Hi guys I live in Bristol which is not very far from Chepstow and could quite easily get a return ticket for less than £10, however if I have to go to Snowdonia i'm looking at around the £80 region.

Now the only reason I want to go to Wales is to find some shrooms.

My only question is this though, are there shrooms in Chepstow? If so when will they be out in season? I know its like mid sept- oct but I would like a more specific answer.

I'm sure you will find some around chepstow. I would wait a week or so and go the day after some rain. The black mountains are supposed to be a good spot for shrooms as well. A bit of local knowledge will help a lot, although once you dial in to what habitat the shrooms grow in it is fairly easy to look at a field and have a fair idea if there will be shrooms.

yes the "UK mushroom 2011" thread on shroomery is beginning to get a lot of heat, so i'd say the season has begun.

it's highly probable there's many mushrooms there but sometimes finding them can be a bit of a problem. i think you're right about waiting a little while more and then going hunting
