Hello BL.

Its spring, and weeds are popping up everywhere, including my little yard/neighborhood area.I just discovered one of the plants growing wild out here is the lactuca virosa, or Wild Lettuce, or Lettuce Opium. What ever you want to call it. I have read about wild lettuce on here a few times, when ever people are suggesting a legal herb that is sorta worth a damn. Its mentioned several times, but nobody really going into their use. Erowid does have some good info, but I like up to date information, and I like Blue Lighters.

So I plan on slitting the stalks today(like I did yesterday, there so much growing) And collecting some of the latex. I am going to try smoking it, but I wanted to know if anyone has experience ingesting it. I collected some latex and a few leaves yesterday, and made a tea out of it using hot water? but this did not do much, and the latex did not dissolve in the water.

Should I use some wine and let the stuff soak? Is ingesting it even work it? And how much is okay to use, like a few leaves? I whole 2 foot tall plant? I read somewhere that the plant could be poisonous? But the people who died had injected a bunch of latex? I donno, I just dont want to Over-dose.

Bottom line: If you have any experience with harvesting and use the live lactuca virosa plant, share your knowledge with me!
 
I was unable to find any good video's about it myself. Nothing by people who grow is. A few video's from websites trying to promote their product, but that was mostly it.
 
bump. Id quite like to know this aswell, was suprised at the fact there was so few responses.
 
"lettuce opium" sucks. even smoking an extract, i felt that chammoile tea was stronger.

don't bother with wild lettuce, it feels nothing close to any opiate and will likely just let you down.

if you want a herbal opiate, try kratom. its WAY better than wild lettuce...
 
The active in lettuce opium is not an opioid, it is an enkephalinase inhibitor, which prevents the breakdown of the bodys own endorphins and enkephalins.

Get you high it will not, but it may well be useful for retarding withdrawal symptoms in those dependent on opioids, and will potentiate opiates taken with it.

If its anything like other enkephalinase blockers, it will not produce a tolerance which causes an opiate tolerance, BUT an opioid tolerance will make one tolerant to the enkephalinase inhibitor.
 
I just got my first 100x xtract...ain't scarrd

I bought a gram for mad cheap and looks and smells odd, kinda reminds me of this godawful super salvia xtract. Which was the most frighening and unlpeasant form of intoxication, a c;ose second to robotripping. (this was back in the day) But now that the RC market and laws are getting more scary finding alternate routes is a good back up. Lettuce opium asmen tioned is non opiod, the nickname came from a time where doctors had to improvise and this is what they stubled on, a plant with sedative hypnotic abilities which would alleviate pain, but I believe the primary metablites head for gamma but non bind to the sweet receptors that benzo's,z drugs, and barbituates head, but it still affects gabba, I bought it as a trial sleeping aid I bought it along with chaste tree berry and blue lotus. Anyone who says these legal highs suck is in a way right as the goverment has illegalized most cool things. But there are so many herbs that contain opioids, actaully 1 other than kratom, but maois, leonitus leonoris is like a smokeable non ssri antidepressant, it doesn't blaze you but it chills you out and fights the jones. Also check out KAvaKava i just order the kavalectones 80 pure and add it to my kratom, the two compliment each beyond words. mugwort sucks....bu at least i'll have the knowledge I've sought every obtainable remedy for insomnia and insanity.
 
Lettuce Opium is the primary active ingredient in 98% of these "legal bud" products you see.

I have tried some of them (Smoked) and found it to do nothing accept give me a horrific headache

though, lettuce opium by itself might be a different story-- let me know what you find out
 
Lettuce opium was reminesent of the the crappy "hash" friends of growers come out with in high school, i guess you gotta eat a couple grams to feel shit when they press the male pollen into blond powdery hash with barely any affect, i also ordered a ten gram chunk of resin lettuce opium with 10 gram kratom extract, and 20x blue lilly xtract, and a shitload of real poppie seeds, somethins gotta give. but xtracts generally suck and the tea rotue is cheaper and more effective, so i think i'll buy buch of just straight lettuce opium and get to makin tea, and fuck this ekaphase shit is a lettuce opium is a gabacentric fuck what wiki says, the goverment owns wiki now. Make staesments based of experience not speculation and pontification while looking to google for the real truth and regurgitating it, so sick of reading 5hand wki shit and what people assume somethings gonna feel like cause wiki says so. try it until then keep wiki to yourself posor

Sorry but the primary alkaloids shhot straight to gabba don't forget most plant with pscyoactive properties contain dozen (opium 53) marijuana (421 known!)
However the areas it centers for in gaba are not the pleasure center where benzos,baebitutes, and Z drugs go for, it well contain alkaloids that do what you say, but why would doctors without access to opium substitue it for centuries and why do hippiies cultivate for the latex? placebo, and gabbecentrics shouldn't be combined with opiods they may use bezos in detox but thats a whole nother beast. It's viable and worthwhile experience, let me guess youve never touched the shit and wikiied us down some hard knownledge.
