Letters from Readers: Thanks for support; Marijuana kills
Thanks for support
On behalf of the volunteers for Tex Reynolds’ Toys for Tots, I would like to thank everyone in our extended community for their continuing support. Without that assistance, we could not accomplish our mission.
While I can’t thank everyone in this space, some organizations need to be recognized. Goodfellers, The Journal Times, the City of Racine, SC Johnson Wax, Educators Credit Union, Corporate Volunteer Council, Blain’s Farm & Fleet, Kortendick’s Hardware and the firefighters of Racine, Caledonia and South Shore have been especially kind to our organization.
For Christmas, that meant 897 families (2,235 children) were served by contributions of toys and funding, and by the dedication of a great team of volunteers.
With much appreciation, thank you.

Marijuana kills
I heard the statement that marijuana isn’t as dangerous as alcohol. That statement is wrong. Marijuana and alcohol are bad for your mind and health. I understand marijuana may help take away the pain in your body, but you still have the same problem the next day. You are causing people with asthma and small children harm. This affects your neighbors, family and community. There should be another way to replace marijuana. When you hear a statement that it’s OK to use marijuana, shame on you. Alcohol and marijuana kill. You need to wake up and smell the coffee.
You’re not only hurting yourselves but hurting and killing the people around you. Stop teaching people and children that it’s OK when it’s not.
Your pain and hurts — you need to talk to God, he can take away your pain and hurts. He did it for me and he can do it for you.
