Let's Talk Craft Beer

Yes we definitely get canadian beers here. What state you in? I mean I don't what their range is but I'm in CT so I"m close enough where I see canadian beers often.

Ill have to check it out.
Do we get canadian beer in the states?

I could probably get it from my beer store. They do custom orders if you want something they dont have.

Good to see you around these parts again....

There's Molson, I am pretty sure it is common everywhere in the US. It's pretty good. There is also Labatt, but I don't particularly care for it. Definitely a unique taste for a cheap beer.

There is a bar we go to after work that has 25oz mugs of Guinness for $5. That is the best deal in town.

Brookyn Lager is a great beer.

Brooklyn's great, so is a Dale's Pale Ale when I can afford it - Ballantine is the shit but mostly been drinkin PBR - Budweiser just aint American enough anymore - fuck the hipsters though, been drinkin that shit forever

We refer to the light version of Labatt as "Blue Light" which I've always found rather amusing...spending college years in an area of the US invaded with Canadians made these common. They seem more difficult to find outside of Buffalo, NY as I've noticed recently.

But, this is what I came in here to post (I don't think there's a picture of it, although it's mention is sorta what started this thread, if there is, sorry!):

<3 Finally having some the other day, on a beach, was fantastic.

For those of you in the "south of LA" area of california, you've got to try "Pizza Port" beers. I LOVE their "Old viscosity"... its amazing. They also have an oaked older viscocity that is on tap in some bars.

I'm opening a bottle of old viscosity right now :).

I've been very interested in this company for some time but couldn't find anywhere to purchase it online at the time. I am especially interested on one of their brews in particular that uses pine needles in the brewing process. Supposedly the pine is very invigorating. This is how all ale was like pre-1500's. Don't get me started on how the catholic church pushed and pushed for hops to be mandatory to add to all beers because of its sedating effects. Did they really think that adding a sedating plant to beer was going to stop men from brawling and fucking?

Don't get me wrong, I have only known beer with hops in it so of course I appreciate the taste but from what I've read of early medieval records, the general european population revolted at the time and hated the thought of having hops added to all beer and insisted they keep their other herbs but eventually they lost that fight.

To be fair, I'm sure the preservation qualities of hops had a lot to do with it's widespread use.. probably even more than the story I told above but I'd like to think the former was true... it just gives me an excuse to bash on the catholic church.

Hops are the only thing that keeps beer preserved, using other leaf/bud you would have to keep the beer in a constant dark 35 degree climate even then it would
eventually turn into a flavorless carbonated beverage, with some barley charactar.

I had a couple of Miller Lites in the aluminum can with the screw on wide top earlier today. Pretty cool for when you are on the go, which was the case with me today.

Went to Seattle Beer Festival last weekend. Oakshire Stout was effing amazing as was Stone's Elijah Craig Bourbon Porter.

^Mission is fantastic.
Have you tried anything from Lightning brewery?

Red Stripe tonight.
Hooray Beer!

Currently drinking this Blue Point Blueberry Ale. Quite delicious.

While i am a beer snob and love my microbrewed IPAs and imperial stouts (wooo tasty and high alcohol content!), i am currently trying to save money, so I've been drinking "Simpler Times" Lager from Trader Joe's. Can't complain about a beer thats 2.99 a six pack and is 6.2%. Not a lot of flavor, but I'll take it.
