Let's Talk Craft Beer

^ I was just here to post about Pumpkin Ale. I just had 1 today. It was called Slpashing Pumpkin and it is brewed by Great South Bay Brewery on Long Island. It was pretty good, but it's not something to drink if you plan on drinking a lot. 1 or 2 is fine, but no more than that.

This time last year I tried the pumpkin ale by Saranac. It wasn't as good as the one I had today because it was too spicy.

The Bruery Autumn Maple. Brewed with yams, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, molasses, maple syrup. 10 percent alcohol content, with a perfect blend and balance of flavors, doesn't overwhelm the palate with sweetness and has very aromatic notes. Expensive at 10.99 for a 750ml. But honestly well worth it. ;)

Apparently employees get free samples all the time.
My buddy delivers - he also goes to UMass - he gets tons of free BBC bottles. I cringe when he brings home double IPA satin-beer.

Just cracked open a Bass Pale Ale. Normal choice is 6er of 1 pint PBRs, too cheap ;)

Lots of beer thoughts today:

I'm ridiculously bummed that Petes Wicked Ale has gone out of business and I will not be getting my case of strawberry blonde that I ordered from a local beer store :(

I will be taking notes on all of the pumpkin beer suggestions, keep them coming, I love pumpkin beer in the fall and want to try as many as possible.

I tried a new (to me) BBC beer when I went out the other night, it was a little too heavy for me, I'll post the name when I find it. I'm going to stick with Steel Rail, I love that shit on tap.

I went to the Paper City Brewery in Holyoke MA and tried their belgian wheat which was really good and their blueberry ale which did not smell particularly blueberry-ish but had a very cool and strong blueberry flavor, I enjoyed it.

BBC is a good MA brewery. They make a bunch of different stuff too. If it's blueberry that you want then here's one from another MA brewery that's great

I had a beer at a hotel in Daytona that was served in a special bottle that was 23 degrees Fahrenheit, it was just a Bud Light, but for 8 dollars it was worth it laying around the pool. I have really gotten into drinking a beer or two of Blue Moon either the summer or fall variety here lately just one or two.

alright a beer thread thats great.Im a coors light person on the regular,(the locals here in my area of FL like there Budweiser ha) but theres a great place here in FL called World Of Beer. Now thats the spot, nothing but imported beers, no Budweiser there!

I'm a classy chick, kept it to Blue mons and bluelight...

btw, i'm going to make love to tommyboy, jus tthought y'all should know.

but he drinks budweiser for christ's sake!

I love magic hat. I have had their #9 the most, but would love to try their variety pack.

#9 is the best. i've tried most if not all of the varieties. i have a jerky habit of sometimes making my own variety six pack...only of the same brand though.
circus boy (a hefeweizen by magic hat) is good too.

SO MANY good beers mentioned. my cheap one - miller high life

i like blue moon - though there are better belgian wheats out there (like from belgium...there is a store in my city with imports from all over the world)

lennie's! i like the summertime one (with blue label), but the honey weiss is my favorite by them. the red ale is great too, and the creamy dark(?) i enjoyed even though dark beers aren't my thing.

BOULEVARD wheat! i need to try to find that here in NY. i had it on tap in south dakota. was excellent.

and thanks to whoever reminded me of blue point toasted lager. had a couple of those years ago. i'll pick some up again now.

my go-to beers at the store is lately magic hat #9, or blue moon. their summer one is good.

but i got a bunch of hefeweizens and summer wheat type beers from that store too. maybe i'll post pics.

also, i BREWED MY OWN beer this past winter. just 2 gallons of a pale ale (i don't really like pale ales but i figured i'd start with my least favorite type) in a cheap beginner kit. my mom got it for me for xmas. turned out OK

aww, that's a bummer. i liked their beer when i tried it. guess i should have drank more :)

PURPLE HAZE, that's another good one from the convo. didn't know it was 8%

I've got this stuff The Heady-Topper from The Alchemist-Vermont. It smells a lot like weed, and tastes like the stems of some headies. Its definitely good for an %8 beer, but you have to drink it slow.

My roommate brought home some of this from VT once along with some glasses. I'd agree, it's a great beer but it's not for chugging at all. It's the sort of beer to drink slowly and enjoy it.
