Let's Talk Craft Beer

Where's all the beer talk?

I'm so lame, I haven't been drinking beer much lately so I haven't had anything new.

I did try the Opa Opa Southampton Porter this winter. Oh how I love porters.

I'm drinking the "Sierra Nevada, Ruthless Rye"... Nothing too crazy, but solid and a definite drinkable winner...

Anyone drink flying dog? Their amber ale tastes awesome, not to mention they have the guy who did the original art work for fear and loathing making their labels. They also have an IPA named snake dog that I've yet to try.

Sweetwater is good, but their filtering is just nasty. IPA usually has a good fresh hop flavor and scent. The Breakfast Stout... just got Thomas Creek Oatmeal Breakfast Stout and it's very similar, but cheaper.

The only Sweetwater I enjoy is their Festive Ale that's brewed for Christmas. I know a lot of people here in Georgia that don't care for any of their beers. Jekyll Island brewing company has a good beer called Cooter Brown and one that tastes and smells like South Georgia named Hop Dang Diggity which is really hopy. Terrapin has Hopzilla and doesn't have that awful aftertaste from SweetWater.

If y'all don't have a good craft beer store that will do custom orders then use Publix or a higher end grocery store since they will order any beer you want.

ugh, I don't like any of those Christmas beers. Nutmeg and spice don't belong in a beer IMO. I really don't like any flavored beers, especially not pumpkin. But the Christmas type beers are a close second to me.

So you guys have stores specifically for craft beer down there? I'm assuming beer and liquor are sold in separate stores in that case? Around here it's the exact opposite with grocery stores and beer. Most of the big chain grocery stores carry beer but usually only the mainstream brands. And if you asked them to order something special they'd tell you to kick rocks. And they're not allowed to carry wine or liquor. With the exception of some grocery stores and a few convenience stores (rarely), everyone pretty much goes to package stores (liquor stores) for beer. And those are the ones who will order you whatever you want, especially the smaller mom & pop ones. Beer wine and liquor are all sold in the same store and that is the only place to get wine and liquor. There are a couple of weirdos that have specialty wine stores or something, but I don't know of any that only have beer.

I am from Portland, Oregon we have the largest amount of beer snobs and micro breweries per capita in the USA.
Favorites of mine include
Pyramid brewery- apricot ale, outburst(my staple), snowcap
10 barrel- apocalypse IPA, pray for snow, and everything in their reserve section
Deans scene a local speakeasy in a guys basement- Deans green vaccine(contains large quantities of THC), coconut ale, old Nicodemus, he makes some dank ass belgians
Anything made by Hair of The Dog
Ninkasi- Total domination IPA, Oatis stout, hop stupid
arrogant bastard
so many to list but thats all I can recall right now

Just had a bomber the other day of Coffee Break Abduction from Pipeworks Brewery out of Chicago and HOLY SHIT. Amazing beer. Expensive, but i didn't pay for it so win-win.

Delirium tremens. Or Palm. I start a new job next week at a brewery so hopefully I will broaden my horizons a bit more.

Drinking some selections from Three Floyds Brewery out of Munster, In. Srry had that city wrong. Really good brew tho.
