Lennon’s LSD stash ‘discovered’

fuck the beatles. john lennon's laid in bed while the dead tripped into oblivion blew that pussy yellow submarine sid deep underground with doses that probably made lennons man purse liquid look like strychnine and cough syrup. fuck the beatles. it would be cooler if they found pigpen and jerrys stash. buried.
 
LSD experimentation was going on much earlier than 1967, the Beatles were latecomers in the game. The Beats (Burroughs and son, Ginsberg, etc) ran drug circles around those cliche hipsters- a decade earlier.

Sounds like a hoax.

I've not read that Burroughs ever took LSD. He once took psilocybin handed out by Timothy Leary and wrote in a letter that he'd never take it again but wouldn't tell Leary in case he cut off funding. He took ayahuasca in the 1950s and pure DMT but didn't enjoy them. Opiates were his drug of choice.

You're correct- I meant psychadelic drug experimentation in general (Burroughs took DMT/Ayahuasca, Harmine, Mescaline, Psilocybin, etc, I know Ginsberg took LSD early on in the late '50s; it is written as "LSD-6" in a few beat texts/letters).

Everyone's favorite source for the truth (Wikipedia) lists at least one Beatle who took LSD prior to this supposed 1967 acid epiphany:

Ken Kesey was also said to have experimented with LSD with Ringo Starr in 1965 and in fact influenced the set up for his future performances with The Beatles in the UK.

Interesting titbit about Ringo and Ken Kesey. Never heard that, I'll read up on it. I always though of Lennon and Harrison as the acid heads, while Ringo and McCartney tried it but weren't big fans. The well documented first Beatles trip was in 1965 when Harrison's dentist spiked Harrison and Lennon's drinks after a dinner party.

LSD25 is mentioned in Burroughs's novel, "The Naked Lunch", but I think he read about it in medical texts rather than tried it himself. Some writing by Ginsberg on LSD gave me the impression he had done it quite a lot.

various beatles literature (the shotton book for one) says that the beatles first exposure to acid was at a dinner party at george's dentists house where they were dosed by the dentist.

man, i think taking acid at my dentist's house would lead to a horrible trip of the worst kind.
 
The Beatles sent a film crew to the Montery pop festival in order to smuggle pints of Owsley liquid LSD back in the photo cannisters. In 1967 Lennon had a full pint of LSD liquid. Although he said he took a thousand trips he probably took a few hundred.
