Stimulants Legality - taking prescribed meds by snorting?

If I have a script for Ritalin, etc - obviously if a police officer finds Ritalin on me and I'm carrying my script, then I'm not breaking the law.

how about though - if he finds a snuff bullet containing crushed Ritalin? Is this illegal? the script doesn't say HOW i have to take my meds, just when. the snuff bullet has not been used for anything else (no other residue, but Ritalin) and I'm allowed to posess ritalin, so would this be a problem? Paraphernalia obviously - but is it only illegal when it is used for illegal purposes? VA and WV allows the posession of para as long as no residue exists form an illegal use.

I'd like to get opinions - not debate whether this is the best way to take my meds - but if a cop is going to arrest me or not. Ritalin has helped me a lot, with my ADD, and other problems, but this is my preferred method of taking it.

thanks

I'm pretty sure it's technically illegal to take scheduled meds any way other than how they are prescribed. Even if it's not, good luck trying to convince a cop that the crushed up white powder you've got on you is your "prescribed Ritalin". I guarantee you'll get arrested and have to deal with all the hassle up until they finally figure out it's not coke or meth or something else.

Yep - no doubt the red tape would still be enormous. It would obviously be suspected meth or coke first - i would be detained - and the item tested. Now, once I spoke up and said what it was (and the fact I carry paper labels of my scipts in my wallet at all times), I would agree the METHOD of use would now come into play.

The script just says to take "2-4 tablets as needed for distraction". Doesn't really say orally, rectally, or whatever - so I'm not so sure I'd be breaking the law. Guess I'd have to get an attorney.

take 2-4 tablets.

you'd win in court.

so if i'm prescribed oxycodone, i can inject it if i want to and there it's not illegal in the U.S.?

You might win in court but i doubt it as it is common knowledge that tablets are to be taken by mouth(yes there are a few exceptions) it is implied and it is common knowledge that other ROAs are not the intended use for the medication. Thereby making it illegal whether it is schedueled or not. I would just crush and snort as needed and not carry around the powder. You could make a case out of it not saying by mouth but it's flimsy at best and I wouldn't risk it unless absolutely necessary.

Hey man just powder it up and put it in your pill container with real pills in it. Say they were really chalky.

Good idea. Get one of those small pill carriers and it'd be easy to do bumps or w/e out of to.

The rub would be the intended delivery system. A pill is not manufactured to up your nose or your ass. If it was sold as a nasal spray, like flu mist or whatever, you'd be good. Good advice was crush as needed. Better would be don't get caught. You may prevail in court, but its going to cost far more than a buzz is worth. You would have to speak w/h an attorney. Or 5-6. Average your answers.

You could also make a nasal spray out of it, or just say you dose it better as a powder. It does look awfully shady though. The nasal spray is probably a better idea or just keeping the powder with the pills. They do tend to break up anyways.

I have a feeling that even if the script doesnt specifically state to take the medication orally, you would still get in trouble for snorting it.....probably because you are legaly responsible to take the medication as prescribed.....and if your doctor tells you to swallow the medication, than technically, you were prescribed...however much of that drug, orally...not intranasally......no matter if it says it on the bottle or not. Im sure the doc would testify that he/she told you to swallow the pills. And even if not, I still think our government is nosy enough to still want to prosecute.......they are having a hard time dropping the "war on drugs"
