Will I encounter any problems bringing a whippit popper back from the US to australia?
I know that bringing the whippits themselves back is just plain stupid due to airline guidelines on pressurised cargo, but the popper itself I am not sure about.

Is there anything illegal about the popper itself? And out of interest, is there any legal use for one?

Amyl Nitrate was legal in the uk and still is as far as i know,
But most poppers is Akyl Nitrate, which is not amyl nitrate im not sure of the difference but its prob alot cheaper and gives u a worse headache, anyone here know?

Technically OT:

AFAIK most 'amyl' that you can buy is isobutyl nitrite or another similar volatile nitrite.

Back to the original question - a soda siphon or cream dispenser are legal accessories for cooking etc., so should raise no questions.

Exactly. Surely that must be easier, considering that they're big and metal and will probably result in raised eyebrows a the very least. I mean really, who goes overseas and brings back a whipped cream dispenser? ;)

if i am on track of what antiicheez is talking about as a soda syphon dispenser thingy then they are extremely hard to find new in australia of at least melboure. i havent been able to find one since mine broke 5 years ago. of couse back then i really was making soda water.
as for customs you should have no troubles bringing it back in bacause as it was said above somewhere they are legal cooking accesories.
DfI:)

You can get them from department stores, homeware stores, and specialist cooking supply stores. You must not be looking hard enough :)

.

I wanted to bring it back with me cos it cost 15 US dollars, and it was only used once.

I managed to get it back, I just kept it in my checked baggage, rather then my hand baggage. Sitting in my checked baggage in my toiletries it probably looked more like dildo then a lethal explosive device. If It was in my carry on bag, then i'm sure they would have stopped me at the X-ray machine.
