Legal Status of Mailing Prescription Ritalin to Australia

Hi there,

I did a bit of looking around using the search button but could not find anything concrete.

What is the legal status of having generic methylphenidate (alternative to brand name Ritalin) mailed via Australia post to you?

If the amount is for less than 3months (but still without a doctor's prescription) , will the mail be seized, or is it an offence warranting any charges laid upon the recepient?

I've heard of mail orders for Viagra being opened by customs and then sealed and let through. I wanted to check if it was different for generic Ritalin.

In the meantime are there any experiences from other members about having it mailed to them?
 
i wouldn't risk it bro
i mean, you're not gonna get fined (don't quote me on that) and most likely just a love letter
but you should be able to get ritalin prescribed to you legitimately if you actually need it

i find that ritalin (however fun) is not very therapeutically helpful - for me anyway
dexamphetamine - i believe - is much better therapeutically and recreationally
but if these meds are actually needed in adhd treatment, i wouldn't suggest abusing and getting a huge tolerance

p.s. i'm not concrete on any ritalin laws (i assume it would be definitely illegal)

Create a hotmail account just for talking to them. Send it from a public computer if you are worried.
 
nope. you cannot have ritalin mailed to Australia. It is a schedule 8 drug, you need a permit to import even one tablet. If it gets found (and it will), you may be lucky and get a warning but if it's a large quantity there may be criminal consequences.

It is also illegal to possess ritalin without authority within australia. So even if you manage to import it successfully, you are committing a crime simply by having it in your house/car/strongbox buried in your back garden.

The reason why you can get viagra through is that it is an uncontrolled schedule 4 drug and therefore it is legal to import a 3months supply (with prescription of course but they hardly ever bother to check). NOTE - this doesnt apply to controlled schedule 4's - e.g. benzo's.
 
^in most cases, esp with benzos, it would be disadvantageous to import it given that if you were capable of getting a script the PBS price would be a damn sight lower than the price you pay from ye olde 'online pharmacy'

and he clearly said "except benzos" as they are a controlled sched 4 substance, not an uncontrolled one
 
If you have a script, you can get 3 months supply mailed. Customs will likely seize it and request a script from you before they release it.

Things always get through, you can risk it if you want but i wouldnt
 
sudzgoa, you most likely won't get prosecuted if it's seized the only time they'd bother with it is if you tried to heavily conceal the drug usually they don't care what was concealed but that's the real offence and you can go to jail for it too much longer than just simple possession
 
...you're over two years late man.
Probably not a good idea to incriminate yourself or encourage others to import prescription drugs either.
