Hello. I am looking for information about the legal status of DOI (2,5-Dimethoxy-4-iodoamphetamine) in Finland. I went through Fimea's list of substances classified as 'designer drugs' but it was not there. The way I understand it, every substance that can be used to alter the normal function of the body or mind can be considered a medical product, and as such is subject to the same laws as for example ordering Viagra from abroad without a valid Finnish prescription. I came across this many times trying to order liquids for electronic cigarettes in the early days.

Anyway, I was hoping someone at BL could help me with this. Is DOI considered a drug in the traditional sense, or a medical product? Or neither?

Sorry but questions like that are not actually allowed here. You might want to read the guidelines of this forum. And I doubt there is anyone here who is an expert on the intricacies of Finnish law. They way most "research chemical" sellers get around drug laws is by saying they are selling the product "not for human consumption".

Ah, I see. My apologies, didn't mean to break any rules. I completely understand why it's a taboo subject in a place dedicated first and foremost to harm reduction.

I have noticed the saying "not for human consumption" in many places, and IMO the current situation sucks. These things are not going anywhere, in fact they are only going to get more widespread. With new technology and more chemistry-savvy people, the problem will only get worse. I wish at some point down the line, governments will change their policies towards drugs in general. The way they are handled now is doing far more harm than good. If you count the well being of people as a positive thing, that is. The problem is, it's a lot harder to put an objective value on that than it is for money and resources.

But no point in launching into a full blown rant. Thanks for the warning, I will remember it from now on.

You should check out EADD for region-specific questions, or make a thread in PD if you want more info on the drug specifically.

Closing thread, not really suitable for BDD.
