A head shop has just opened up near where I live that sells legal highs bongs and other paraphernalia for the drug user. I have never tried legal highs and heard in the media that alot of people end up in hospital over the miss use of these legal substances. Just wanted to get some feedback on peoples experiences with such substances and are they really as bad as the media portrays or are some legal fixes good. Some feedback would be great thanks

I've used them, they vary widely.

My favorite is DXM if you like PCP or Ketamine.

I did Salvia once and LOVED it. Unfortunately, it's illegal in my state. :(

If you're more specific I could give you my advice.

There are really too many different kinds of "legal high" to discuss them all under one umbrella.

Some could be random mixes of herbs with no effects. Some could be adulterated with synthetic cannabinoids/halluciongens. Some things like Amanita Muscaria and Salvia Divinorum could be sold that are quite active on their own...

Read some labels and ask some questions.

Depends on what kind of legal highs they are! There are a bunch like wild lettuce, damiana, and other "marijuana alternatives" that really don't produce much of an effect and are more comparable to drink a few cups of chamomille tea. Others like salvia are actually very powerful substances that can temporarily take all reality away. Kratom is a good one, somewhat stimulating somewhat opiate like. San Pedro cactus and Hawaiian Baby Woodrose can give you real psychedlic trips, at the cost of maybe making you a bit nauseous and being a bit rough on the stomach. Then there's a bunch of "misc powders" with names like nopain, gocaine, snowblow etc. These are rather risky as they often don't state what chemicals are actually in there. If you're interested in that sort of thing you're better of looking for a decent research chemical vendor.

"Legal highs" effect many people in different ways, some have even died! One girl smoked some herbal stuff and fell unconscious, now she's blind an got brain damage!

Sorry for cross post, but I think this is a better thread for my question. Anyone heard of Ultra Scent? It's marketed as a carpet deodorizer. I'm assuming it's just an expensive bulking agent.

Also, it sounds like kratom gives itchy nose and queasy stomach that something like methadone does. Is this correct?

We don't allow discussions of specific "brands" of legal highs because they could honestly be anything. Even popular "branded" things like Spice and K2 were found to vary widely among different head shops. You're taking a gamble by buying anything that isn't clearly labeled and identifiable.

Kratom is an opioid and stimulant drug, so it can definitely give you itches and nausea, but it's dose-dependant and not everyone gets it.

I'm going to close this... there's really not much more to say other than "do your research before you buy anything". Preferably buy from a trusted herbalist rather than some random headshop guy. For your own safety - avoid any of the mysterious white powders.
