LeBron James VS Kobe Bryant

Kobe hands down. The biggest reason is he has a 3 point game and is always clutch. Lebron just passed the last shot in a ECF game, something kobe would never do as he knows he's the best lebron just thinks he is the best.

LeBron just thinks he's the best? this is where you are coming off as a very uninformed basketball fan. LeBron is anything but cocky, he will make the pass if someone is more open than he is, and if the Cavs lost the game he puts all the blame on his shoulder. Kobe, on the other hand doesn't pass much and has blamed his teammates for losing, on more than one occasion.

I don't think Kobe is as good as a leader as LeBron. without Shaq, Kobe has failed to reach greatness again. however, Kobe is 30 and has many more accolades than LBJ. you have to look at the teams, as well. Kobe's supporting cast on the Los Angeles Lakers is exponentially better than LBJ's supporting cast on the Cleveland Cavs.

take away Kobe and the Lakers are still a playoff team. take away King James and the Cavs aren't really anything (specially the way Cleveland's backcourt has been been playing).

who is better? well, even the most bias Lakers or Magic fan would have to say that LeBron is the best player in the NBA this year. he won the NBA MVP in a year when players like Bryant and Wade and Howard were not exactly having a down year.

this subject has been beaten to death, though. I remember I started the original thread here a couple years ago but I think it got pruned and will be lost forever.

I don't think either of themselves think they are the best.

LeBron is a great player, playing as the star player full of a team of role players, of course he's going to come off looking the main attraction but he isn't afraid to pass the ball check his stats on assists per game.

Kobe is the same, the only difference is his team is full of fundamentally great all round players.

I think this clip says a lot to watch.

looks like LBJ is taking a page right out of "Mr Clutch" Kobe the Black Mamba Bryant.

with one second left in regulation, Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic, LBJ gets the inbound pass and twists in the air to make a game winning three point shot.

hardly ever have I witnessed such jubilation from such usually downtrodden Cleveland fans, who were ready to check themselves out against a supposedly inferior Magic team.

Great shot.

Do it approximately 19 more times, and then this becomes a true discussion, especially with regard to clutchness.

That said, it WAS one hell of a shot.

give him approximately 7 more seasons and i'll bet he'll have done it approximately 19 more times. ;)

that said, thankfully LL, you're not one of the assholes who i know in person that protest that it was a lucky shot. according to them, every kobe buzzer beater is skill and every lebron buzzer beater is pure luck. there's no point in even trying to have a discussion.

2 game-winning buzzer beaters in 6 seasons isn't exactly the kind of pace he needs to be on to reach 19 more in 7 seasons. ;)

I think in a one on one match Lebron would win. It's really all about who's a better team player, though, and that would be hard to judge... it can't really be done with stats.

i agree there, but i'm basing that statement on the idea that he's only now BEGINNING to reach his clutch potential. they're gonna be coming in bunches now. maybe not in these playoffs, but this coming season. :D

LeBron would dominate Kobe in one-on-one streetball. LBJ's skills are just too wide ranged for Kobe to handle. Kobe just doesn't have the size or the strength to rebound and play defense as well as LBJ can.

and the better team player would most certainly be LeBron as well. any liking Bryant's teammates have of him seem contrived and forced, while the misfits that LBJ leads on the Cavs genuinely consider him the second-coming.

by your logic, Kobe doesn't stand much of a chance.

source?

the source is me watching the NBA and seeing Lebron pull off his first two buzzer-beaters in his NBA career this year...the first one being against my beloved Warriors. :(

You may be right...he did it a couple of times this season, and if he does it 2-3 times a season from now on...he'll get there. :)

I dont like when people try and compare two players, when they have really nothing in common. Fact is that Kobe is a true all-star. He plays with his heart, and is very clutch.

Lebron is cocky. He is young (23), and have a lot of personal growth to obtain. Every time he is involved in a bad ass execution, he gets all cocky (not like jordan, who truly played by his heart), like he needs that for his ego. I'm not going to say hes like Dennis Rodman, but he has some MINOR egoistic qualities.

Kobe is hands down better. He may not have "muscle" like labrezzy, but he has his heart and soul truly in the game, which makes him a legend in my mind.

Also, Id like to add: Look at who their playing for. Kobe is in the west, and labron is in the east. The west is known to have a tough squad (this is exactly why the pistons made it to the playoffs this year). I don't think the cavs would of gone this far if they were in the west.

and i hate when people think that a persons attitude weighs in on skill.

fact of the matter is, whether lebron's cocky or not has no influence on how much skill he plays with. besides that, he's not any more cocky than any one else in the nba. confidence and cockiness are two different things. watch the cavs sometime.

His ego and cockyness hold him back as a player. It shows on the court.
