Lebron james vs Kevin Durant

sadly, most sports fans my age don't know much about Ali. while I am a fan, it can be considered unfair to include what he did outside of sports.

then we would have to include other sports humanitarians or those who included themselves for a cause. Roberto Clemente comes to my mind.

Jordan's merciless drive, record, championships, and penetration into pop culture makes him who he is.

With that out of the way - EVEN IF WE TAKE EVERYTHING "outside of the game" away (which, by the way, I STRONGLY argue we SHOULDN'T), Ali, almost FORTY years past his prime, is STILL considered by virtually EVERY knowledgeable boxing fan to be BY FAR the greatest of all time.

Meanwhile, MJ's prime was barely over 10 years ago, and Kobe is already on his heels, and so are Durant, Wade & in some hallucinating minds, LeBron.

MJ will be passed within the next decade, if not sooner.

Ali might STILL be The Greatest 100 years from now.

And, on topic - DURANT over LEBRON.

Last year, you LeBroniphiles had the audacity to question "Lebron vs. Kobe"

I eagerly await next year's season-long thread: "LeBron James vs. Popeye Jones"
 
Kobe's already passed his prime.....
(ages 24-30 generally considered the "athletic peak" of the human body, and Jordan, during that time, was simply unstopable, and at a level only LBJ/Durant, of the current crop, has a chance to reach, albeit an EXTREMELY slim chance...LBJ lacks the "it" to ever reach Jordan/Chamberlin/Kobe, just lacks the "right" personality, probably because of the way he was treated as a god from age 14-20)...
..... and it wasn't that close to MJ in his prime. He may win another title or two...(not that titles mean that much when discussing one talent versus another, almost meaningless, but they do count for something...MJ could have had 10...if not for the Pistons/baseball, but I digress)....
... but it really isn't that close, and that isn't a knock on Kobe AT ALL, as MJ was simply a basketball god. Don't get me wrong, he is a top 5 talent, but Jordan and Chamberlin are the only two in the discussion, and while LBJ has a chance to be in that discussion ten years from now...I think him signing with Miami and forming a dream team fits perfectly with his "I don't want to be the "man" personality that Kobe and Jordan share. Kobe's excellent, amazing, whatever you want to call him, but he can't hold MJ's jock in the grand scheme of things
(stats/eye test/whatever), Chamberlin(and even he has the most "padded" stats ever) is the only won who doesn't belong in MJ's shadow. Durant, on the other hand, has a slim shot...but I don't think it will happen. This is coming from a Kobe-lover, and Laker Fan...KB8 is great, but he 'aint MJ, and I doubt we ever see someone on his level in our lifetime...

Pippen is the player who was over-shadowed the most, the best defensive player at the 1-3 spots I've ever seen, and probably will ever see...

If we are talking Heavy weights only a moron would have Ali ahead of Joe Louis. Not only did he hold the heavyweight title for longer (11 years, 8 months, 7 days), he also made more successful defences (25) than anyone. Ali may have won it 3 times but that just means he had to have lost it..

Sugar Ray Robinson would be clearly the greatest of any weight Division.
 
Kobe when he retires will be Either G.O.A.T or the second best player, he wins hands down. Has the heart of a fighter when James retires he wont be considered anything close. He chose the easy way out I lost all respect for him the way he played the Cavs, he should of just lft them rather than having a show pissing on cleavland and trying to take the easy way out and I love how people are saying how much money he gave up hes still getting paid 15+ million if not more there was no discount it was cheap and overall a douche move

I want to see the Bulls end the heat and all of there band wagon fans.
 
the Bulls could be a real threat this year if they get Carmelo Anthony, like they have been vying for.

isnt it nearly a lock that melo is going to the nets. theres a 4 team trade in the works. kinda sucks, for some reason a huge part of me wanted to see melo go to golden state and see what a steph curry, melo, david lee, core could stir up.

bulls I think are already a solid threat in the east with their current roster.
 
I think that the Bulls are missing maybe half a player. who knows, Derrick Rose might improve even more and then it won't even be a necessity.

I thought the Nets didn't want Melo because he was only going to be there for a year, and then he would (obviously) be gone. it's strange the Knicks haven't jockeyed for him. what was there business model? try to get LeBron and then give up completely
 
A move for Melo would hinder the bulls in my opinion Melo isnt all that great of a player, offten gives up and quits too much. He could be an all star but he dosent have that heart to carry a team as a leader that is why they madethe trade for billups hes aleader and melo is well mellow hes out for his self and not the team. I personally think the bulls should leave there roster as what they have now its solid filled up with team players that will contend for certian.

The knicks have, they just dont have the ability to make a serious ofr that denver would be willing to accept as they cant trade any future picks simply becuase they dont have any on hand and besides Amere there really isnt anyone else on that roster that leaps out at you. The should hae tryed to have traded Lee to denevr for Melo but its a little too late for that.
 
yeah, like I said earlier I didn't think there was any chance the Nets would in their right mind take him for a year then watch as he would hardly give a shit in his performance (Melo fans you know this would be true) for that said year, then BOUNCE

And this is likely why Miami will not win 5 in a row, even though I joke about it. A trend is likely set from this point forward for superstars to move to a major market and form superteams. Melo, Amare, and CP3. Pretty good team there, not better than the Heat and I doubt that anyone on the Knicks staff can put together the kind of quality depth behind them like Pat Riley did for the Heat.

The hope for franchises in smaller markets is to hoard #1 draft picks like nobodies business. I've always felt that the draft lottery has to go and that they should just award the #1 pick to the worst team like in the NFL. Some good scouting will ultimately be the end of these kinds of star studded teams. The NBA needs its Bill Parcells (but not for another few years ;) )
 
I agree that the draft lottery should go the way of the dinosaurs. who woulda thought? I've been agreeing with you a lot lately 3, 4
 
Right now, LeBron is easily better than KD, no doubt. But KD will be better than him by 26.

Right now, I'd say he's probably top 8 or 9. By the end of his career, he'd be very lucky to be in the top 5, I doubt it though.

I love Kobe, but seriously the fanboism on this forum is ridiculous.

Meh the Nuggets want way too much for Melo. The Bulls would have to give them Deng + Noah and a few draft picks at the MINIMUM. If the Chicago Management is stupid enough to give them away, they won't be contending for a title with just Melo, Rose, Boozer.
