I am having issues with being diagnosed with PTSD. My doctor has me on 0.5mg's of ativan. I am taking bupe. But i have stockpiled the ativan aswell as other benzos (klonopin, and xanax)

From a harm reduction standpoint. Which out of the three ( ativan, xanax, klonopin,) is the least harmful to take in conjunction with 4mg's of bupe daily. I am not going to be taking any benzos for at least 4 or 5 days. But aside from the doses of each one varying. That's not the issue as i can brake the benzo dose down further with a pill splitter. I need to know which out of these three is the least dangerous to take.

I know the harm in combining these. I just want to know... Worst case sceniro which would be the lesser evil out of the three choices listed. If you don't know this answer, how about which one you would absolutely advise to stay away from. Thanks for any insight.

I was prescribed Bupe 4mg a day when I was also prescribed 8 mg Xanax a day. I asked my doctor if this was safe and he said if I was already tolerant to benzos and opioids I should be ok. I didn't have any problems. I'm not saying you will be ok I'm just sayin' I didn't have a problem. My advice is not medical. Good luck

Thanks for the reply man. Sounds like were in similar situations except i am not prescribed nearly as much of a benzo. Omg, 8mgs? I'd be blacking out drive my car over pedestrians as speed bumps.

To the rest... C'mon guys! Threads like snorting ambien and smoking pills are get more attention this thread. Cold in hell, lately.

There really is no "least harmful" benzodiazepine if you're under the influence 24/7. But seeing as levels will oscillate more with alprazolam, it might be more safe (but with increased anxiety as levels decrease).

Of all three, lorazepam is the least potent, and has an intermediate duration. The alprazolam and clonazepam are both potent, but alprazolam has a short duration, and clonazepam has a rather long duration.

For this reason I would stay start with the lorazepam (ativan), and use it for anxiety, and save the alprazolam for panic attacks. Furthermore, save the clonazepam for when you're going to quit Suboxone all together and want something to help with buprenorphine withdrawal.

Or you could save all your benzos for coming off buprenorphine, either way it would work well.

All three benzodiazepines essentially work the same and have very similar effects and risks, so I can't say any one of them is "safer" in general, but I gave you the best advice I could IMO.
