Least damaging way to smoke herb?

^Eat it was my guess alright.

Green Dragon would be good, except the dangers of the alcohol involved outweighs any risk associated with smoking pot.

^Well, I don't think its that cut and dry.

Alcohol is certainly hideously toxic, nobody really disputes that fact. But if taken in very low amounts, its probably less damaging to the body than smoking cannabis. Simply because smoking anything causes the alveoli in your lungs to prolapse, and severely depletes your body of ascorbate which can cause your body to synthesize collagen incorrectly. Smoke causes severe, irreparable damage to the body; yes even weed-smoke, sorry to break the news to all you stoners. Lung tissue is delicate, any smoke will paralyze cilia and cause alveolitic prolapse-- that's just a fact.

If you consume cannabis without smoking it though, its about as benign as a psychoactive drug is capable of being. So assuming you make the green dragon strong, where you don't have to consumer more than ~1 ounce of alcohol, then its essentially benign and will not cause damage.

^Touche.

Well than one of those bongs with many many chambers may be the healthiest way to "smoke"

although if your worried about health maybe you should lose the smoke idea, not that I find smoking pot that unhealthy but everyone has different standards of health.

^IMO the least harmful method to smoke is to use a 1-chamber glass bong (w/ a diffuser downstem) that is filled with lukewarm water (cold water causes the smoke to condense, then it expands with the heat of your lungs and gnarkills your alveoli). The extra chambers just filter out more THC and make the smoke stale-- they are just for show, essentially.

Most importantly, take small hits and don't hold them in for more than a second or two (after that time, the THC is already absorbed so it doesn't matter anyway).

Not to sound like a tool, but I really urge you guys to consider switching to a non-combustion method for the bulk of your cannabis consumption and save the bong rips for special occasions.

Hmm Roger,

Im thinking about a glass bong with a diffuser downstem and one 8 arm percolator, I would think with 8 arms it shouldn't filter out much THC or cause much drag...more worried about the latter honestly.

you don't sound like a tool man, its a harm reduction website,

If I had infinite pot I surely would consider switching to a non combustion method.

I have read that the majority of the damage from smoking anything comes from the heat of the smoke on your throat and lungs.
If you follow your next rules:

Most importantly, take small hits and don't hold them in for more than a second or two (after that time, the THC is already absorbed so it doesn't matter anyway).

then cooled smoke seems like a better idea to me.
small hits are key!

I agree with this wholeheartedly.
Vaping is the real way to protect your body.
Anything else - bongs, joints, pipes - (except for eating, of course) - is still doing roughly the same amount of damage.

i don't know if smoking mj is proven to cause physical damage, but i guess it's possible. personally, i'd be more concerned about what i'm smoking than how i'm smoking it; e.g. - smoking chemically-treated bud is obviously harmful, while smoking organic, non-chemically treated bud is, at least, not as harmful

OT: I. vaporizing is an alternative, if you're willing to spend the dough on a vape. i've never been able to get high with a vape. i don't know why, but a few of my friends can't either while others claim they get more out of vaping than smoking.. so, it's one of those things

II. glassware. smoking out of glassware (pyrex is best) is much safer than smoking out of metalware

III. it's good to clean your piece regularly. i used to use isopropyl alcohol & sea salt to clean my pieces. steps: fill the piece & let it sit a few hours, drain it, rinse out with (destilled) water a few times, dry it under a light --
some people just use hot water to clean their piece, but water alone doesn't get rid of the leftover tar, mold etc that can accumulate.. which are obviously bad to inhale

dang, now i wish i had some weed =/

no it is not true. canny mind the specifics but i saw a report that someone linked to on here and turns out that bongs, they just work perfectly.

id personally say a bong, with ashcatchers & percs as well as warm water (some say ice, but IME warm water makes for a smoother hit)
is the way to go. all the ashcatchers and percs on this baby must mean this guys lungs are thankful ;)

I think i just fell in love.

Thanks for the info. Just why is smoking out of metal pipes that are designed to smoke herb out of not so safe?

under heat, metal gets hot faster than glass, so the smoke tends to be harsher (hot) on the lungs

besides that, i've heard that some element of the metal can be inhaled, but i can't verify that
