floydriver said:Le Junk, I consider your method of purification acceptable. It certainly relults in a much higher quality product, but I am skeptical of some of your claims. Namely, that amphetamine and cocaine can be separated in such a way.
I would expect most of the amphetamine oil to remain stuck to cocaine base powder during the water wash, given the weak solubility of amphetamine freebase in water.
Can you explain why this doesn't happen?
GenericMind said:Few more questions for you Junk, if you have time:
-Is lab-grade acetone anhydrous, or do you have to look for "anhydrous acetone" specifically if you want acetone with no water?
-Is the loss of Cocaine significant when using store-bought acetone containing water instead of anhydrous acetone? Are we talking milligrams or dozens/hundreds of milligrams?
-Could you post a quick list of which washes would remove which cuts? As may commonly used cuts as you can think of. I would like experiment with selectively removing certain things.
Something like:
Warm water wash:
Amphetamine
Caffeine
etc.
etc.
Chloroform wash:
Lidocaine
etc.
etc.
Ether wash(I think I heard mentioned?):
etc.
etc.
Thanks in advance
Le Junk said:Yes. Amphetamine freebase is actually quite soluble in water. I don't know where you got your info from, but it's to the contrary.

Amfetamine (amphetamine);
A colourless, mobile, slowly volatile liquid. It absorbs carbon dioxide from the air forming a volatile carbonate. B.p. 200° to 203°.
Soluble 1 in 50 of water; soluble in ethanol chloroform and ether; readily soluble in acids.
