ld50 on xanax

It's going to be extremely high, several tens of mg/kg. A lot of the dangers from xanax come at much lower dosages of course, particularly associated with blacking out and hurting yourself in your disinhibition.

Why do you ask, out of interest?
 
The acute oral LD50 of alprazolam in rats is 2171 mg/kg, which is less toxic than temazepam at 833 mg/kg in rats (most toxic benzo).

Lorazepam LD50 = 3178 mg/kg (rats)
Diazepam LD50 = 1240 mg/kg (rats)
Nitrazepam = 980 mg/kg (rats)

I've been using Valium for a while now only about 40mgs a day but have just came across a source for Xanax and I can't get enough of the stuff I love it lol blows Valium out the water I have the .50 tabs and they give me such a mellow relaxed floatly feeling mixed with a low dose of Valium and tramadol I'm quite tired but don't wana go bed just enjoying watching TV on day sofa. But I know there quite potent so didn't wana go overboard with em. Here's what I've had today this is over the course of 10 probs about 400mgs of tram I have
a high tolerance to it so don't really feel much from it. 15mgs of Valium and probs about 5mgs of Xanax oh and half a pint of cider. Do u think its safe to take another .50 Xanax tab?

1mg xanax is equivalent to about 20mg valium, adjust accordingly. While it probably wouldn't be particularly dangerous to take more at this point, xanax is one of the benzos that is particularly good at causing amnesia and blackouts, especially in combination with alcohol.

If it's your first time doing xanax, 5mg is quite a high dose, so may be enough for today, but 0.5mg more isn't something to worry about.
 
^ this, it's really hard to OD on benzodiazepines alone (although not hard at all if you are mixing them with other CNS depressants such as opioids or alcohol - be very careful about this, it can easily trip people up and can be fatal).

LD50 is not really a reliable measure in general - it's the fatal dose for 50% of people only, and it's usually extrapolated from animal studies so it may not always be accurate for humans.
 
My friend (before finally overdosing fatally on butalbital and methadone) once ate an insanely high dosage of diazepam.

He breathed in vomit, and a lot of his lung capacity was destroyed. He should have never had access to butalbital while on methadone, I blame his father being a huge drug addict and having an unacceptable negative impact on his son's life.

In short, a benzodiazepine overdose is not what you want.

I'm not preaching at you here, I'm in no position to do so but LD50's are a guide at best and only work in any way as a guide if that's the only chemical you have taken in the half life of that chemical, I guess even the half life should be doubled, because its a half life someone can correct me on that if they wanna, I'm no doctor.

Drink, Tramadol, Valium and toss in 5mgs of Xanax your just asking for trouble, fuck yeah you feel mellow who wouldn't after that lot. Your easily into real danger just on that mix, you could easily fall asleep and choke on your own vomit for starters.

Being a daily Valium user I recently tried Xanax and I can see the attraction as it kicks in much harder but it also has a massively shorter half life so you keep re-dosing, where as Valium has a stupidly long half life and you don't feel that need to re-dose. I've heard Xanax referred to as the Crack of Benzos ad I can see why people would say that.

Just go careful, personally unless you need it for pain I'd try and start to drop the Tramadol bit by bit and try not to drink too much if your going to take high doses of Benzos its not really a safe mix but I appreciate that they do complement each other rather well having been more than a bit partial to a drink myself until quite recently.

I'm betting that of you start taking Xanax allot you will really start to see you Benzo intake rise, you can't kick Benzos CT as I am sure you know and you would have trouble tapering on Xanax Valium is your best bet for this in general as it gives a much smoother ride back down that dosage scale.

Just go careful, it's what seem like innocent little cocktails like the one you describe that can cause such tragic and wasteful deaths:\

Thanks for the replies. If I took Xanax with Valium do u think, as Valium has a longer half life it will reduce the urge to re-dose on the Xanax ?
