Last movie you watched?

Gladiator!

i shouldn't rip on this movie so much. it's really not that bad.

rules of attraction

what a bunch of sad despicable characters. it has its moments, though.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose - Pretty much sucked to be honest.

The Constant Gardener - Pretty much rocked. Intelligent, twisted and touching. I actually liked Feines in this film... so it can't have been bad.

Children of Dune miniseries. Hmmm. Leto rocked, otherwise meh. They dropped the ball on a lot of important details...

True, but it was still cool to see Frank Herbert's world visualized in both the Dune miniseries and Children of Dune. I thought Children of Dune was the stronger of the two, but of course details will be left out. The books are so complex and nuanced that it would be impossible to incorporate everything into a manageable amount of time for a movie/miniseries/et cetera.

That's funny Finder. I found Dune better than COD. The new cast members and lack of some details -- which were not details that would have extended the miniseries, but more visual stuff -- really got to me. One example -- Jessica, who is not only played by a new actress which is bad enough, also doesn't have the blue spice eyes, despite being a reverend mother! It would have been pretty easy to give her the blue eyes, so the fact that they didn't really annoyed me. It's like they just 'forgot', which is sloppy.

I still enjoyed COD but I was disappointed in what I viewed as a drop of quality compared to Dune.

More recently:

I watched both the BBC and the 2005 Pride and Prejudices.

I adore KK but the film just didn't do it for me. Too many bad choices and inaccuracies and weird dialogue additions, IMO.

I adored the BBC miniseries though...absolutely top notch.

Jessica was living back on Caladan and wasn't completely immersed with the spice like she was on Dune, hence her eyes returned to normal. At least that was my interpretation of it. I haven't read the books in some time.

American Graffiti

the first time that i watched this movie i was in primary school - i think i was in grade 5 or 6 - and i LOVED it. the other day i was at a video library store when i spotted it, remembered how much i loved it when i first saw it when i was little, then remembered hearing my lecturer in my contemporary american cinema class that i once took talk about it, and so i decided to pick it up.

this movie is a classic. i loved the soundtrack, the acting was great, but for me i think what particularly 'tickled my fancy' ;) was that i've always found america in the 50s to be a place and time that i would of liked to have been and experienced. well, for at least a day or two, before i went completely insane ;)

i'm glad i picked it up and watched it again after all these years.

On becoming a reverend mother, a woman is permanently addicted to the spice and must consume a certain amount daily. This would maintain the all-blue eyes. Basically she would be dead if she didn't have the all blue eyes.

Also, I'm pretty darn sure they mention her eyes being all blue in the COD book.

^I don't remember any of the non-Fremen Reverend Mothers having blue eyes. But, anyway, you've read the books more recently than I, so I'll take your word for it. :)

Oh, and the most recent movie I watched was Serenity. Fuckin' kick ass. :D

2001: A Spacy Odyssey

Good to spend time with a well-cherished favorite. Every frame is a work of art, unfolding an existential narrative in a series of masterful paintings.
