Lamictal and DMT: potentially dangerous?

A good friend of mine would like to try DMT soon, but she is currently taking Lamictal (lamotrigine) as a mood stabilizer daily. Is that combination overtly dangerous? what possible interactions may occur? I couldn't find any information online that I could draw conclusions from, except that lamotrigine is not a 5HT2a receptor agonist.

how does lamictal work? I hear it is sometimes used to stop excessive glutamate stimulation. I'm looking for drugs like memantine to help reduce excitotoxicity.

I don't think the combination is likely to be particularly dangerous per se; however, I would question the wisdom of anyone who needs to take mood stabilisers experimenting with powerful psychedelics, given that they can exacerbate pre-existing mental health conditions.

well yea, but the glutamate stimulation is due to a chronic, neurological illness (bacteria) not due to some weird mental disorder.

As far as I've read, lamotrigine is not contraindicated with psychedelics. The risk is that tripping will exacerbate whatever underlying condition you need the mood stabilizers for.
