1.
Its only 11:30 am
Been up since 7
The apartment reeks of pot
Thinking of derailment and
Ageless wisdom gone mad
With the woman dancing in my purple dreams
Yesterday we burned out completely
But things will unload as the should
So be it; Blessed be
2.
Flexing our drug abuse muscles
Trading stories of excess
Ron-Ron slit a man's throat uptown
at the Shell station
I always liked him too
Oh well thats my America
3.
Be in good spirits
Not everyone has forgotten you
At least not yet anyway
Get wasted, get trashed...
Do anything--
Have fun!
For your own sake!
Forget that you are a victim of life
4.
I'm losing it but these kids can't see...
Am I a man or
just the shell of one?
5.
These children make me sad
14 yr. old snorting hydrocodone
12 yr. old hustlers in Gatlinburg poolhall
Such a shame, this America
MY America
6.
Oh Paris Puckett, you
You are an experiment in
Psychosis and behavioral sciences
Psychoactive killer of
car windshields
Stabber of tires
And I miss you...
7.
In Gatlinburg I was raped by a
local woman
I was drunk and there was a party
I passed into unconsciousness
and she slipped into the covers
Tugged me straight, fucked me
and left me for dead
I was informed the next day
(having found a used condom beside the bed)
by the neighbors who had walked in
on us and witnessed the act...
9.
Heard a knock at the door
at 3 am
Kim had to leave; Alex got arrested again
Fucked up and high in my American Dream (supposed)
10.
Christopher (Christ bearer)
"Bring out yer dead!"
Sprawled in the streets at
Main and Bruce...
God loves ugly
Wake up; It was all a dream
11.
Poetry burned into my brain
Its all I know and
Its all I want
Poetry fills the room with fragrance,
Flavor, soft hymns, heavy perfume
flowing out of quiet lips
Poetry is the reason for all this madness
The reason for my late nights
The reason for my unconscious disection
Poetry keeps me afloat
And away from the drift of undertow
Where breakdown paints over time
12.
I who am of the left over generation
Dance upon cliffs of absurdity
Waiting to trip and go over the edge...
...with all the laughing lunes at the bottom
13.
Mercy is finished and
the children waking from night
Song of sadness in the early morning
and I can't convince myself to cry
I want to stand in the sun
atop snowy peaks above the desert
in Arizona looking out over Mexico
The curanderos already know that
I'll be dropping in...eventually
I seek the cure
We're all dead
But we can't see it, yet...
The world is a grave yard
I seek the magic cure
SAVE ME!
14.
Kathryn is on the bed
lying down
Staring at me and pretending to sleep
as I write this poem
Strange days and uncomfortable times amass
15.
I want trunkfuls of poetry
So I'm gaurunteed oxygen for a while
Poetry sweet poetry in the
place where Lucifer fell from Heaven
But--And I understand now--
Maybe I don't want to be helped...
