A friend of mine used to snort 20mg XR Ritalin and got a rush that floored him. Now he snorts 20mg IR adderal and gets no rush AT ALL! Can anyone explain this? The powder is very finely ground fyi. This person has also tried two different brands of adderal with the same effect.
 
You don't get a rush from snorting.

I'm guessing that he might have developed a tolerance. That, or the intranasal bioavailability differs between the two formulations.

Although your friend should also consider that Adderall and Ritalin are two very different drugs and as such require different doses than each other. Do some research on erowid.org see what you get...

In my opinion, all the fillers and binders going up your nose make snorting Adderall IR a complete waste. Unless you have no tolerance, then you might get something out of it.

And I agree with phrozen, you don't get a "rush" from snorting...
 
i have an insane tolerance to all types of speed but if i crush up 90mgs of adderall IR and sniff it there is a rush. not a rush like an IV drug but it def hits u faster and in a different way than if u were to just swallow the pills. what i usually do is eat 9 of the 30mgs and then sniff 2 of em and it kicks in the pills i eat faster as well as just make everything better and more pronounced. personally i hate ritalin. less euphoria but more of a severe crash
 
The problem is not tolerance, BTW and should get a rush from snorting, why is int he?
 
Bob, snorting a pill is not a rush. It has a quicker onset than eating them but I'd hardly say that is a rush.
 
We're arguing about the semantics of rush again...

If you think you(or they) are experiencing a rush from snorting, IV it to find out what a real rush is.

People need to stop saying "rush" in regards to any other moa besides IVing and smoking. It's just misleading.

Edit: By definition, a rush is caused by the immediate BBB penetration of a drug and the quick saturation of receptors. Any other moa besides IV/smoking requires time for the drug to be absorbed, and therefore the BBB cross is much more slower and gradual. Look into the pharmacokinetics of various moa's if you still don't get it.

I used to snort addies all the time and got a rush from it. But mine were'nt IR they were ER. But regardless i used to get some kind of a rush from it but not as strong as when i snorted Ritalin a lil while ago. The Ritalin rush is strong and faster the snorting of addies takes about 10-15 minutes to fully hit u. I have no idea of the bio-availability intranasal on either i just know the feelings and time onset of the 2.

Thats what I am talking about. Any one wanna shed some light on this?

Note: phrozen and others I know exactly what your talking about and where your coming from, but not everyone IV/smokes stuff. The faster ANYTHING crosses the BBB the stronger the rush
 
Snorted drugs cross the BBB faster causing a rush. Amphetamines should. Did they change the way the pill is made so it does not work when snorted like they did for oxy or something?
 
Did you read my previous post? I dont want to get into a whole thing with you hear. By your definition its not a rush cuse its not IV. Nevertheless most people would say snorting speed gives em a rush. Is there something wrong with generic adderal? I heard there might be...

What the hell is everyone going on about? Snorting some drugs gives you a rush. Period. Stop debating that and answer the original post.
 
^ maybe in your eyes it does. Have you ever IVed any of these drugs? Until you do that, you have no idea what a rush is. Thats what they are saying. You would realize that snorting something provides nowhere near what a rush should be.
