Labour warns [the long-term unemployed] "We are coming for you"

How can people just "get a job" and get off their dolescum arses when there are actually not enough jobs to go 'round?

Pretty obvious to anyone who knows anything about economics that this is the case, and in Western European countries we have 'imported' labour to create a surplus in the number of workers. Why? So that people will always work for less than they deserve, so that they will be grateful for the crumbs from the table n so people start blaming dolescum/immigrants for all their problems instead of the engineers of the system. The real villains, essentially, either knowingly or unknowingly...
 
I guess it depends on what part of the country you live in, where I am there are jobs if you want them, I'm not saying there are a shit load of highly paid jobs but its always easier to get a job when you already have one.

Other parts of the country are not fairing so well as I understand it, but down here (20 miles north of London) some vacancies go unfilled for months, I think there is a problem with young university leavers expecting highly paid jobs straight off because thats what they've been fed
 
I used to one of those that said, if you really want a job you could get one. How that attitudes changed over the last year. There is absolutely fuck all out there. The girl in the dole doesn't even bother me anymore. I've actually been told once your in your 30s they don't really give a fuck to push you out to work. Your basically on the scrap heap

It pisses me off with all these stories about people on the dole driving new BMWs. What a load of wank. No one on the doles driving a new Beemer unless they've a bit on the side.
 
You see the problem with this whole thread is the title it really pisses me off .

Did the Labour party actually use the term "Dole Scum " i doubt it .

So straight away we have dole scum i could really go on one about this being on state disability assistance but i can't be fuked .

As well as having to deal with my illness i don't want to spend time getting wound up about people that have very little idea about what some of us have to deal with .

The words Dole Scum are prejudice as fuk n tbh i don't think that anyone has the right to call another person Scum because they are out of work .

If i were to start a thread with MIGRANT Scum or such would that be tolerated ?

I doubt it so i'm requesting that this thread gets Re Named ?
 
I think the title's meant to be wry and satirical - it reflects the way the media and politicians portray the long-term unemployed, rather than Issy's own views. We've had other titles which are potentially offensive to some but are clearly not meant with any malice, so we've kept them. I see this one as being in a similar vein.

Though it's Issy, so we can never be sure... ;)
 
Yeah but it starts the thread with a straight insult n i'm not happy with it .

Sure issy is trying to get attention to the thread but i think it is wrong .

It's defining a category of the population as Scum n that is wrong .

Still where's my tooter so i can smoke some tax money ;)
 
The title is insinuating that that is what Labour (and perhaps wider society) thinks of people on the dole, not Issy.

Still - I suppose we have lurkers and casual observers who may see 'dole scum' and think we're a bunch of ignorant bastards.
 
Then we clearly need a phrase to replace "Dole Scum". One that still makes it clear that people who don't work should be shot, yet doesn't deter lurkers from signing up to BL because they think we're all insensitive cunts.

Yeah dole scum was an ironic term - in the same way I'd refer to druggie scum.

Scum to me is a word meaning the lowest of low, murderer, rapist, pedophile etc, not someone that is on the dole!

And no Ismene you cant use he word "unicorns" for dole scum , remember it has been used already for political correct term for black man;)

Unicorn was used for gay clubgoers too remember - it is generic in scope! ;)

To be fair, there's been a least one credible study that proved 63% of all people claiming benefits fall into at least one of those categories.
 
S'pose I'm not technically dolescum cos I'm more one of those even more annoying-to-the-provider "sick" folk... depending on which bit of de SS you ask anyway. I have no objection to the term "dolescum" on the basis that it's funny tho.

Is it just me or does this story just do the rounds once every year or so and never actually makes the slightest difference to anyone anywhere? Not that that's a complaint... This time around the emphasis seems to be on not missing the appointment for the medical (for folks in my position anyway). I've so far missed two, was only given prior warning of one anyway, and had my benefit stopped dead (ie zero - fuckin' ZERO - income) for three months straight before they sorted it out... and then failed to send me the appointment I have since missed due to not being sent it.

All y'all hopeful taxpayer folk may just need to wait a while to remove us scummers from parasiting you due to the millions wasted on incompetant beaurocracy failing to do owt of owt other than muster rabid headlines and circling vultures...

Again.

Stop bitching about the pittance that a relative handful of proper scroungerscum do manage to eke outta the system (the very system that saves the rest of us from falling too far off the face of existence) and maybe focus on the gabazabazoonillions wasted on the redtape-traipsings and bullshitting-bullshittery spent failing to administer the basics in the first place perhaps :\
