Labour warns [the long-term unemployed] "We are coming for you"

I'm thinking I have a high chance of being kicked off. As mental illness is, obviously, much harder to consider when it comes to being worthy of benefits.
I'm bound to turn up to the medical in a right fucking state though, so I suppose that may aid my cause :|

I just hope I don't have to appeal again as that was the worst of experiences... Sat infront of two old and very bitter women.
Still, I was put back on benefits.
But if I were to be kicked off, I wouldn't be able to afford my medication which I desperately need, I'd likely be suicidal without them.
I wouldn't be able to do "normal human things" like stop being a hermit and engage in social activities which help me massively.

It's a case of slowly but surely with me. I need to sort myself out - and I am getting there - but it's just taking time.

Ah well.... C'est la vie du la dole scum :|

p.s. The "Dole Scum" in the title was clearly humour. I'm unsure why you got yer knickers in a twisty over it ;)
If I can handle it then surely everyone else can, no? :?

p.p.s. Ignore me, I'm a cunt hehe 8)

The sickie-testing is a shocker, claimants who lose their case have the highest success rate when appealing compared against any other Govt benefit which has ever existed. Think the figure was like 60%+

Still, the idea was to shift people from disability to JSA and hope that claimants wouldn't fight back.

It's purely a cost-cutting exercise, nothing else. It's sickening, absolutely sickening.

Is it true that the Tories make dolescum pick up dogshite in parks now to get their benefits?

s^ Not quite, Spadey. Think the big plan this year is to send folk to stack shelves at Tesco to "earn" the money that's rightfully theirs anyway. The fact that politician tend to have a few shares (or in the case of Tories daddy owns the company) in the few corporations taking part in the "get some donkey work done for nowt instead of paying someone to do it instead" scheme that may rise a tad when they can sack the folk who usually do it is surely irrelevant. Absolutely irrelavant.

Monsta: I feel your pain on the mental health thang. We're always the first on the list to be pissed about with cos we don't look as sympathatic as crippled war veterans or whatever. If you can't see expensive medical equipment attached to the individual to keep them functioning then it doesn't count as illness. :\

FWIW, I've turned up for every medical I've had "in a right fuckin state" and it actually does seem to help. First one I had I got signed off for life he was so shocked at the gibbering wreck he was presented with (:D). Various government crackdowns reduced that to a 10 year sicknote, then a 5 year one and now the current clusterfuck where they insist that everyone on the sick in the country needs a medical at the same time... which is proving to be a work of logistical genius and no mistake 8)

Ha, ATOS, who run the sickie-testing-get-the-scum-working Scheme, also run Royal Mail's Occupational health service...

Their main job at RM seems to be forcing people into Ill Health retirement (IHR), 36 weeks payoff, where people have recurring absences....RM are doing everything they possibly can to shed staff at the moment, so there are a fair few being forced into IHR.

Those very same people are then presenting themselves to be considered for sickness benefit, being assessed by ATOS (in a different hat), and being told they are fine to work.

Fucking beautiful.

apparently Newsnight have some sort of exclusive news on tonights show regarding A4E.
'proof' of systemic internal fraudulent practices [practices the govt's already supposed to be looking into] via A4E's own internal emails or something.

should be good anyhow. not sure if its been on any of the other main news channels yet

General opinion is "yay" on dolescum. Still a dissenting voice or two. Think most folks who come under the "dolescum" category use the term themselves cos it's funny. Can see why some may object tho so add a winky or summat maybe? ;)

On a side note, I do love that both String Theory and Feynman's "Single Universal Photon" theory crop up in a discussion of said dolescum :D

Shamz my man. How's you doing?

(And PS - I aint adding smiley shit to shit. Sorry. If people take it wrong, fuck em ;)

Where? I think I missed that.

Tis all good in Mancland too thanks Shambo.

I know it's been said to death on her now but good to have you back man.

Although I'm on the dole and have some awareness of what both those things are (admittedly not indepth knowledge though).

RZA: Like any ego an extra stroke is always welcome ;)

And as ever - tis great to be back and even greater to see so many old chums still going strong.

If I recall correctly you're views on the dolescum thing are slightly to the left of SHM's, no? ;)

Clubberdude: Am a bit of a physics nerd only without the actual knowledge to do more than ooh and aah a bit then speculate wildly occasionally. Tis odd to see it turn up in a thread like this but is probably just an errant stringthing vibing in a lower dimension or summat.

I like it! Again, why bluelight really needs a "like post" button.

I have an interest in physics as well, mostly astronomy-type stuff, though could never really get my head around string theory or m-theory and all the different dimensions presented in these theories. I suppose its bloody difficult to visualise in more than 3-dimensions (+ time).
