I worked in Nephrology for a few years, so trust me when I say, I understand BP fully. A majority of my old patients had kidney issues, which resulted in their BP spikes.
A few questions...do you have white coat syndrome? Are they using the right size cuff when taking your BP? Do you keep a BP log to understand what triggers your spikes, or what times of day it's highest?
Do you use drugs, such as opiates/benzos? Have any existing health conditions?
It's hard to say what will work for you, not knowing your health history.
Norvasc/Hydrochlorothiazide combos work well with those who have nephrology issues.
Listinopril is also a more common drug for HBP.
Until you can figure out your triggers, it's really hard to say.
