There has been a lot of talk about 5HTP in this forum. Does anybody have experience with L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylanine? From what I understand these substances are equivalents of 5HTP and L-Tryptophan respectively when it comes to producing Dopamine and Norepinephrine.

Interesting point. I read somewhere that Phenylanine in energy drinks and L-Phenelynine is different.

Thanks that was quite informative. I was specifically interested in people's experiences. Outside of theory, has this actually worked for people to increase motivation and concentration. 5HTP definitely works for me to create constructive/positive attitude, but it does little in terms of focus and motivation for me.

people have been using L-Tyrosine, Inositol and L-Phenylalanine effectively as natural supplements for focus, mood-lift, and concentration, but not so much motivation. try it though, you never know.

I use L-Tyrosine fairly regularly. I don't like to use alot of caffeine, and so in the morning I'll take one or two L-Tyrosine tablets. It wakes me up. I've also noticed that it helps with erections. In that, I'll be sitting in class listening to the prof talk about philosophy and suddenly I'll have an erection. And no, I don't find the prof attractive. :)

Pre-Cursor, Pre-Cursor

l-phenylanine is the precursor to l-tyrosine. l-tyrosine is the precursor to l-dopa. l-dopa is the precursor to dopamine and norepinephrine. These are the two neurotransmitters that will make you feel good. l-phenylanine is also the precursor of phenethylamine which is the bodies natural amphetamine. The supplements will not cause a release of dopamine but they should increase the availability of it.

I had best results with mucuna pruriens then l-phenylalanine then l-tyrosine.
An xtc user should supplement with it in the same way he does for serotonin and 5-htp, mdma doesn't just release serotonin but also norepeniphrine(sp) and acetylcholine(memory and speech).

I've used both these products, and can say from a lot of experience they both seemed to help in the recovery stage of a bender.

I have used them with and without 5HTP as well. I felt I got more benefit from them then with 5HTP alone, but of course all three at various times in the recovery seemed to work best.

I use to take them for a few days in a medium / higher dose. Up to about a week later. I think they helped me a lot.

I used both substances for several years when I started developing a tolerance to Ritalin. Taking either supplement on an empty stomach, with a little carbohydrate (sugar drink) and B vitamins amped up the Ritalin quite a bit. I stopped taking them when I had problems with numbness and tingling in my hands.

Yeah if I dosed on them i think it made my rolling harder. I thought so at the time anyway. Not so much taking some and using it to potentiate a pill, but rather taking them regularly for the week and a bit more on the day of the pilling.

They're quite expensive though and the percieved difference wasn't worth it.

MP has l-dopa in it which is the next step along (as aforementioned).

l-dopa isn't rate-limited, so it's going to be much better at doing it's job than the other two (by circumventing the body's regulatory processes).

Not only is l-dopa neurotoxic, but it will induce more neurotoxicity when rolling. If you want my advice, don't touch MP with a 10-foot pole, or any dopamine precursor before or after rolls.

Is L-tyrosine or L-phenylaline sold in most drugstores I have briefly skimmed the vitamins/supplements and dont think ive seen either. How exactly would these supplements interact with adderall? Potentiate the effects or neurotoxicity or make for less of a crash or what? I take 5htp and adderall on a fairly regular basis . Would these supplements make a difference
