OK, I've researched a bit, and came to the conclusion that there is a small but real risk of serotonine syndrome when preloading a serotonin releaser with 5-HTP. so I take back everything I said, just do not do it for safetys sake, at least not until we get some input how high that risk really is.
I always thought from my own experience that taking 5-HTP is similar to taking vitamin pills: one feels good for a moment, because one is proud about having done something for one's health, and then carries on as normal. but then again, obviously 5-HTP has at least for some people a very real action as antidepressant, so there is probably really more about it than I had thought.
on the other side, can at least l-tryptophan and l-tyrosin considered safe in any circuumstances? now I would be really surprised if canonical amino acids which are part in every days diet would be that risky, but I'm always willing to learn, and of course one should always try to stay safer. on the other side, does it help?
