L-Theanine is the amino acid naturally occurring in green tea that has a calming effect, which helps balance some of the stimulating effects from the caffeine. Unfortunately, most sources of green tea do not contain enough L-Theanine to have any real effects, and those sources that do contain the highest amounts also naturally contain that much more caffeine. Supplementing with L-Theanine from sources without any caffeine, in doses between 100-400 mg. helps calm a user without causing any sedation. The effect of this calming is due to L-Theanine's production of alpha waves in the brain, which is similar to the workings of meditation. Does anyone or has anyone supplemented with L-Theanine to help set the stage for a psychedelic trip, or perhaps even to help redirect a difficult trip? What are your experiences?
