This thread's a heads up for anybody out there unfortunate enough to be afflicted with Herpes simplex virus, whether it be oral herpes (cold sores), or genital herpes.
I've suffered with cold sores all my life. A few years ago I was getting cold sores every couple of weeks. They would affect my lips and my chin which would both be covered in bleeding scabs, and my face/body would feel itchy/uncomfortable, as if the virus was somehow taking attempting to take a foothold in my skin (having being spread via my fingers) but never fully developing. It was horrible.
A friend recently contracted genital herpes, and I decided to do some research for him because it was quite unrelenting in its attacks and I could see it hit him pretty hard (and he's fucking useless at researching things).
There seemed to be a general consensus on the internet that l-lysine is an effective way of both preventing and curing herpes simplex.
So I bought some, and well, I really wish I'd known about this my whole life. It definitely works. I've managed to prevent four cold sores from developing. So I'm posting this in the hope that this can help others out there.
I tend to find that cold sore creams such as zovirax reduce cold sores, but are not completely effective. The cold sore still develops and grows, and the process of applying cream can cause the cold sores to be spread further around your lips. The cold sore on average will develop and last less than they would if you didn't use the cream, but not by any significant amount. They seem to make the healing process speed up by a few days.
L-lysine, however, will completely stop a cold sore in its tracks. Once you notice the cold sore developing, take a 1000 mg l-lysine tablet 3 times a day (morning, afternoon and evening).
Hey presto!! No more fucking cold sores.
My friend has been in a pretty bad way (both mentally and physically) with genital herpes, and taking 1 gram a day has allowed him to stop taking antivirals.
The only time he develops herpes is if he's out taking drugs and forgets to take the l-lysine, which unfortunately happens more often than it should do. If this happens, he simply takes 3 grams a day and the herpes never really breaks out like it otherwise would.
So fuck you herpes simplex.
And buy l-lysine.
