KY, Louisville - Friday 06.04.04 - Broken @ Expo Five *REVIEW*

wow.
After a night spent hollering, i have *no* voice. lol. bueno.

Nigel Richards- Whoa. like, whoa. whoa in that "i'm so f*cking overwhelmed i can't make myself do anything but stand there with a dropped jaw" kinda way. i repeat- whoa. and at the most basic level of appreciation, he's an incredibly friendly guy who just really does enjoy the hell outta what he's doing. Nigel, I say you're welcomed in louisville *anytime*.

Jen Lasher- hadn't ever really seen her perform before... um... i liked some of her records but didn't really care for the overall... everything.

Mackenzie- also great, and totally friendly. i think he liked arron.

Bill- awesome. *sigh*, it seems like yesterday i was watching you spin out for the first time... you improve all the time, it's awesome to watch :)

Met some pretty awesome people...any friend of nate's is a friend of mine for sure :) and of course, it's always a pleasure to have some real good bonding time with arron, pat, missy and the gang. you make me miss cincy.

Nate, Ben, Terry, Bill, Ronald, Chris, etc- you all busted your asses and it really paid off. i can't think of any other party to date that went so smoothly. People were dancing, people were smiling, people were happy.

/round of applause for the boys

Jaded as i very well may be when it comes to *raves*, i have one question for nate:

When's the next one?!

~Lindz~

^no mention?... when did you finally stop driving around?... you crack me up linz, just not when my hangover is setting in... thanks for the fun and watchin out for my beligerence... i saw that gallon of wine... apperently i drink bout 3/4 of it by my self and i only had bout an hour and ahalf to do that in, so no wonder... suprised i didnt puke the whole night away

Great job Deep Blue! "Whoa" really is the word to use to describe the party last night. The whole Evansville/Louisville crews were there and it was great to see everyone again, including the cop who was spinning glowsticks back @ Dieselboy!! Great job on making everything run so great!! Hope everyone had as good of a time as we did!! Hollatchagirl & remember, there is no crying in baseball kids!;)

i can't believe it has come and gone already. but i promise i'm not gonna forget it! what an awesome night. a great place to be, with great people, and the best of music!

i can't stress a big enough thankyou to everyone with Deep Blue. i don't think alot of people realize just HOW much preperation and work (and stress) goes into organizing an event like that. and to have it come off so smoothly, being only your 3rd big event, impressive. Louisville has a truly great group of people working hard to bring us what we want and need around here.

on to the music...breaks all night long in the main room...need i say more? but i will...

all of our local guys did an awesome job at holding down the opening and ending slots on the main stage. they all layed down great music and great energy for the crowd.

Sphinx and Deceit went on first. they threw down some awesome funky breaks, and had a nice crowd of people gettin down from the get-go. nice.

DJ Nimbus and Ill Bill w/ Teddy had the last set of the night and kept the crowd grooving to the end. it's always a pleasure to see these guys, they always throw it down.

and for everything in between...
DJ Icey- very cool to see him again. he spun a nice, solid set of those hard hittin funky breaks they kept the floor moving.

Jen Lasher- i hate to say it, but i was really disappointed with her set. it was my first time hearing her so i was looking foward to it. after 3 records, i realized i just wasn't feeling her (i tried though) first thing was our tastes on breaks are completely opposite (that happens though) what really got me though was that her set didn't flow smooth at all. a few of her mixes stopped me dead in my tracks, it's like she got a little excited and overshot her eq's, loud, fuzzy, with alot of "noise" just couldn't keep a flow. i'm not gonna form an opinion over just one time of seeing her though. i feel bad for saying all that, but i'm just being honest. hopefully it was just an off night for her.

last, but definately not least- Keith McKenzie.....damn! i was really looking forward to hearing his set the most and he definately did not disappoint! deep, dirty, new skool breaks for an hour and half, awesome! and he showed that he knew what everything was behind those tables and what he could do with them. VERY impressed and hope to see him again soon.

thanks again Nate and all the dj's & people with Deep Blue for the memorable night! already looking forward to the next one!

much love to deep blue! i had a great time.

jen lasher- not too impressed.. but i'm not a fan of nsync remixes..especially as the first record of her set. she did play some good icey tracks though.

icey- rock out!! loved it..

lady foursquare- marea you are the shit! everything she plays is amazing. you go girl!

nigel- oh so hot! nigel is the nicest guy ever. he really loves what he does and you can tell.

keith mackenzie- my favorite for the evening.. sick ass tunes.. i loved every second of it!

bill and nimbus- word... you guys keep getting better and better!!

so when's the next one nate??

*pppp*

I had a great time at this event, Kentucky is always fun. I loved the rasta track Icey played. Icey was pleasent

Jen Lasher, seems like she doesnt practice very much, doesnt seem like she las professional training in her vocals, in a studio im sure she sounds just as good as Britney Spears, I was dissapointed. Her limo sure made her seem important though.

All of the others were great, the venue was great, especially the floors.

I got to witness this girl get her shoe sucked into the trucker mud, she went from a clean cut raver to a dirty hippy in a matter of seconds... it was a riot.

PEACE
