Reid Speed
Dubstep/Electro House
Play Me Records // Los Angeles, CA
Reid Speed has been a dancefloor destroyer for over a decade and is second to none when it comes to throwing it down dirty, sexy, hard and on point. Already respected the world over as one of America's best DJs of any genre, with a host of well received mix compilations and a slew of original and group productions under her belt, she recently turned her attention to forming her own imprint. In just over a year, her label, Play Me Records has taken the Beatport charts by storm to become a clear dancefloor favorite with dubstep, drumstep, drum & bass and the dirty sides of electro & fidget house. As one of the first US DJs to champion speed garage & 2 step (which morphed into todays's fidget house and dubstep), her new label's quick rise to the top of the dance charts reflects both her musical ethos and her personality: forward thrust, full speed ahead.
Reid started out in the New York City underground working behind the counter at the legendary Breakbeat Science drum & bass record store. A chance trip to the UK in the summer of 97 led to her love affair with 2 step and speed garage, and soon after she began DJing full time, holding residencies with Stuck on Earth, Direct Drive & Camouflage while in college at the School of Visual Arts. Producing tracks for and with likes of Ming & Fs and Le Tigre came along soon after, along with involvement in a seminal series of parties that introduced artists like Deekline, MJ Cole, & Stanton Warriors to the NYC underground. Signing to Breakbeat Science's label in 2001, she released her first mix "Resonance" to much critical acclaim, and successfully followed it up with 2003's "Life After Dark." On subsequent tours with Om artists Ming & FS and Colette, and on her own CD release tours, she has honed her precise genre mashing mixing skills and developed a synergy with her crowds that is unmatched.
As a producer, Reid has released solo for Erase Records & Kill Rock Stars and has upcoming releases set for So Sweet, Trill Bass, Illeven Eleven, and her own Play Me release. She's worked alongside Origin as Beep!, had successful collabs with Hot Mouth "Jailbait Rinse" and Mike Balance "We Are All Kids Remix" and "Prosti-tot", was a founding member of Breakdown and the producer for their #2 hit "Double Dutch Buzz"and the mega-popular "Don't Get High" remix, and has recently had her music licensed by Puma, Addidas and film (Bomb It"- A Graffiti Documentary). Her tunes and mixes, as well as the Play Me releases, get play from many of the worlds most respected radio stations and DJs including BBC Radio1 /Kissy Sellout & Annie Nightingale (voted Reid Best Mix of 2008), BBC 1Extra / Bailey, Power 106 LA / Power Tools, 103.9 NYC/ JD Turbine, and by djs such as Z-trip, Drop the Lime, Jaimie Fanatic, 12th Planet, Dirtyphonics, Bassnectar & DJ Dan. All who have listened to her mixes or live agree, whether controlling the floor, in the studio, or behind the decks, Reid pushes the music forward every step she takes.

Wise-Man opening DJ contest!
~CONTEST DETAILS:~
WiseMen Promotions is hosting a contest for it's upcoming launch party! If you're an up & coming DJ & ready to share your beats with the dance community then post your mix as a discussion topic on our fan page.
The DJ with the highest online response will earn:
*A time slot allowing you to set the pace and mood of the evening
*+2 guest list
*A reasonable bar tab allowing you to get your groove on, or share a drink with a friend (This offer is available to contestants with 21 years of Wisdom or more).
The entries with the most the fan support generated from "Likes" and "Comments" will be tabulated and then entered into the final round. A wild card or two may be selected by the WiseMan himself.
Mixes will be submitted to the WiseMen and WiseWomen Council. The Council has been hand selected by the Head WiseMan. Council members are from various parts of the Mid-West. Council members range from producers, to promoters, to sound engineers to EDM fanatics.
Next, WiseMen Promotions decided to take no chances and eliminate any temptations there may be to influence the Council. The Council will remain anonymous even after the the contest concludes. Additionally, in order to eliminate any potential insider trading from the Council itself, the Council will remain anonymous from one another as well.
The Council will rank the mixes in order 1-X (X = the total number of mixes). The averages of that score, will then be inserted into the final equation. The math equation has been computed by Stephen Pulliam, the WiseMen Promotions Resident Engineer in order to ensure the integrity of the math.
Winners will be announced Tuesday, April 26th, as a reverse birthday present from Kevin Weisman to you!
If anyone has any comments, constructive criticism, questions, or suggestions; please send them to [email protected]
THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK!
