Krokodil in Chicago! What's it look like?

Exactly. If you ask me, the one and only reason it became a problem in Russia at all is because of their drug treatment policy, if you can call it that; addicts have only one option, and that's cold turkey. (And we all know how pathetically low the success rates for cold turkey detoxes are). Those Russian addicts aren't stupid for willingly injecting krokodil, they're just desperate and have no access to substitutes or adequate treatment. A lot of people blame the pharma companies for selling addicts the codeine pills, and yeah they're complicit, but the real culprit has to be the policy makers.

Spot on! Open methadone clinics across Russia and watch Krokodil go Bye Bye. The "policy" makers bear the blame for this, but per usual they are sensationalizing this and blaming the afflicted. 8(

Unless the DEA is responsible for introducing the drug to the US in order to cause chaos and harm amongst the drug using community.

(joking. sortof)

Unfortunately wouldn't surprise me. But still yet the Chicago Tribune, the first news org to actually INVESTIGATE this, is saying it isn't happening... The doc in Chicago isn't credible and the AZ cases were from a few *calls* to poison control. All this sensationalizing this is just fueling stigma and hysteria. :sus:

In Russia codeine is over the counter AND they don't allow methadone or buprenorphine treatment...

That's a negative. Codeine is not OTC in Russia.... BUT you can give the pharmacist a little bribe and get basically whatever you want, from benzos to opiates/ opioids, but technically, they are not OTC....

.... from a dude studying in Moscow

They did actually ban it quite recently. Man, those "krokodil" addicts must be climbing the fucking walls; apparently, the withdrawals are more intense than heroin and last for up to 30 days...I think there's a lot of very desperate, suffering people in Russia right now.

I think the codeine is (or was) otc, but not pure codeine; I'm pretty sure it was in a combo with paracetamol similar to our co-codamol, although I may be wrong on that-info is pretty sketchy on this whole "krokodil" epidemic.

What is NASADD @sekio? I am newer to BlueLight and was trying to find the methadone/buprenorphine and/or opioid topics, etc. and this is where I landed... Is that a forum where I should be looking around as well?! This forum is sooo huge and busy (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong) that it can be a bit overwhelming for a newbie!! Most of my forum experience has been with NAMA Recovery's "We Speak Methadone (and buprenorphine)" Forums, and they're fairly active but NOTHING like this!! LOL.

Thanks for any tips.

What's is look like? It looks like it never happened. I knew the story would have turned out to be bullshit. Even if there was just 1 person pushing it there would be a lot more than 2 people getting it. I knew right there that the story was B.S. That and the girls couldn't produce a sample to have it tested. If she was scoring that much of this supplier I'm sure she could have procured another bag for testing purposes. I'm sure the media knew it was probably bs but wanted a news story.

^^^My foot after a Krokodil binge.... I think this water bath should clear it right up

the entire point of krokodil is because heroin is so difficult to come by in russia. it would be stupi to even try it in the US where heroin is EXTREMELY prevalent

i dont know about all that. from what i read the high lasts only 30 minutes and then you have to re-dose. anything with that kind of half life would not have a 30 day withdrawal scenerio
