Kratom versus Loperamide for Withdrawal

I'm wondering if anyone here has used kratom and loperamide (with cimetidine and whatever other enhancers can make it cross the BBB) to ward off withdrawal when regular opiates aren't available so they could compare them.

I'm traveling for Christmas and don't want to be a worthless piece of sh*t around my family. I've gotten off of snorting dope/oxymorphone and am down to .5 mg intranasal buprenorphine per day. I've been on one of those three substances every day for probably 4 months. I'm hoping to be down to .25 mg buprenorphine per day without being sick by the time I leave. I know from experience that coming off of that amount of Suboxone I'll still be a big ball of sweating, tired, depression if I don't have something to at least take the edge off of the withdrawal.

So, any advice on whether I should spend the money on Kratom or just get loperamide?

Is there any reason that you cant keep snorting .25 mg until after your holiday? Like stock up enough to get you through?

I've used both of them for withdrawal, Kratom will make the switch easier, but Loperamide is more cost effective for the amount of well-time you can get out of it. I've had good results using them together, to the tune of (in the beginning) one glass of kratom tea (twice daily) plus 10-16mg of Loperamide (once daily) in the morning with the first glass of Kratom tea. When you're ready to step down again, depending on your circumstances drop either the loperamide or the kratom, and then continue slowly dropping the dosage off of that one.

Loperamide is easier to step down with thanks to the 2mg dosages, you can simply cut out a pill at a time if you like. It's possible with Kratom as well, of course. You can just toss n wash the powdered leaf instead of making tea, but it's difficult to work out your exact dosage each time without a scale, and the tea just fuckin tastes good. A level teaspoon of powdered leaf is approx 3grams, but it's still a little rough having to eyeball powdery stuff.

The long half-life of loperamide is a serious benefit of course, having to take the dosage once is nice. There are more side effects with loperamide, the constipation is a little more intense (but not unmanageable by any means) and the stomach cramping and stuff isn't much fun. Although with kratom you have to re-dose every 4-6 hours or so, and of course there is more temptation to eat the entire bag when you're feeling weak.

OK, so if you were doing this switch and going to use Kratom exclusively (or with lope), what kind of "Premium Commercial Bali" dose would you use... I think that's the one I'm going to go with, going to get the powder so I don't have to brew strange teas with family while travelling, etc. Like 5 mg dosed 4 times a day (20 mg per day)? Or more? I.e., people talk about the need to dose high enough on Kratom to get the mu crossover, and we're talking about just skating by coming off of .5 mg bupe, so...

Thanks for the help!

I'd personally suggest the loperamide, mostly because kratom has a huge mixture of different chems, each with slightly different pharmacological profiles, effects, half lives, etc., so while it may alleviate more of the WD side effects it probably won't be as good in the long run.
